Looks like this Gen is about to finish soon....

Look,MS launched their Xbox somewhere 2001-2002,and it died in 2005 when the xbox360 came out,that means that it has only 3/4 years for the 360 to live,so Next year we might here some updates on the new "xbox"

proof:Halo4 was also said to be a launch title for xbox 720 or whatever

The Wii2 was also said somewhere that the devs are working on it,so at E309 we also might here something about it

so you see,this gen might be over soon for xbox360 and the wii,'course they will still be selling,but its the new gen already ?!?!

I'd say no more than this. It has to do a lot with how much more advanced the PC is getting and whether any kind of port is possible on the bigger, graphics intensive PC games.

It would make no financial sense whatsoever for Microsoft to pull out of this gen and develop a new console. The 360 is just starting to make a profit and Sony is now starting to gain a little ground, while Nintendo are content where they are. The thing about this generation is the retro games that are being sold by the bucketload, downloadable content, the connectivity between other mediums that I'm sorry to say, PS3 seems to have the clear cut advantage in that area.

I think Microsoft will announce their follow up to the 360 in 2012, and have it released in 2014 along side Sony's PS4 (We all know it's going to be called that, Sony aren't original with their names) Nintendo, I think will have something new out in 2011/2012 purely because they're going for the cheaper and less technical of the three.

The Xbox and GC had nearly identical system sales. However, it's not secret that the GC made a profit on each system while the XBox sold at a loss, resulting in the total loss of billions of dollars for MS last generation.

P.S. MS, Sony, and nintendo are all currently working on their next system right now. these things take years to develop, its know wonder why theyve started already. everything has to be just perfect before it hits shelves. we wont see the "next next gen" until '12.

Yes, it sold very well but they lost money with every console they sold.

That's right.

To really break it down that way you'd have to see what software sold where and how much it made each company

Microsoft entered the gen late and had to leave it the soonest and still grabbed the second place position in terms of sales.

-Ninty and MS simply conferemed they are working on the next console. no brainer here, however they have said nothing about relecing it anytime soon.

-correct me if i'm wrong, but MS has confermed that the 360 will have an expanded lifespan over the original Xbox.

-next gen dosen't start untill sony says so, amirite :P

-but seriously, it would be bad buisness for any of them to push out another console anytime soon. just because i ate some ramen this day 4 years ago, does that mean i will 100% do the exact same thing because thats what i did last time?

the xbox 720 could be out, but i don't think sony and nintendo would just create new systems just yet.

you don't know much about the history of the xbox, do you? Nvidia stopped manufacturing the xbox's GPU so microsoft couldn't keep making it. it wasn't doing very good. The 360 is doing fantastic. i don't expect the xbox 720 to come out until the other next gen consoles do. and wasn't Halo 4 just rumored at in a blog or something? even if that is true, it doesn't mean xbox 720 will come out anytime soon.
