Combat doesn't look like it has a satisfying feel to it, like you're attacking a Kevlar pillow with a foam sword.
I also can't help but notice how dumb the enemies seem. I'm not compelled to enjoy combat that's so patterned. That's what made Dark Souls dull for me.
So you would rather have a game with random attacks that can kill you in 2-3 hits. That would be epic hard...
What I would like to see is patterned attacks same as 'Souls but with enemies that work together, perhaps tank enemies that protect ranged attackers, and larger enemies using smaller enemies as shields. Funny stuff like that so you have to think about what you are gonna do with not just the individual enemies, but what to do with the group.
Been watching this game for awhile now... Looks freaken awesome.
2011 they started and still only Alpha they are showing... Looks beta to me. Release is fall this year.
Looks good but I was hoping for different art direction, this looks too similar to what already available like dark souls and darksiders. Why must every game be set in gloomy castle type setting? Only 50 people are making this game so I dont hold much hope for it
He made that game sound way more elaborate than it actually looked. What I saw was a faster, but not necessarily more interesting(or frankly that different) version of Dark Souls. Very similar combat scheme(on a very basic level), very similar design philosophy in terms of what they are pitching. The major differences?
-Combos
-Checkpoint system
Now if the Combos are elaborate enough I could totally buy into it. Checkpoints? Bonfires are pretty much the same thing, and frankly a more satisfying way to do it. It allows the game to get away with some more punishing shit, which that demo doesn't show. But that could just as easily be some early level shit, but otherwise the Dark Souls pr team pitches sucking at the games better than that guy does.
I mean it could probably be hard as hell, but I wouldn't get that from watching that footage. Would like to see demo playthroughs of that game from other people.
Art wise the color palette is nice, but christ are those some by the numbers enemy designs.
Otherwise? yeah, interested. Might buy depending on when it comes out, and what comes out around it.
AI needs work but it is a pre alpha
Yeah, I was initially excited for the game, and then I saw the boss battle; I realize they're probably playing on easy and it's alpha (etc etc), but GOD DAMN! is that AI fucking pathetic. Did you notice how many times the boss was just swinging away when the guy was clear across the room or nowhere remotely close to where the swings were landing!? Dark Souls might have had easily exploitable AI, but at least the humanoid characters never wasted a ton of their stamina swinging away when you weren't even remotely close to them! These devs don't seem to have that very Japanesy appreciation for challenging gameplay, which in turn makes the game seem more like Kingdoms of Amalur (pathetically easy even on the max difficulty) than Dark Souls.
Only 50 people are making this game so I dont hold much hope for it
Not every game needs 500 people working on it to be good.

Seems like a generic action game that tries to look a bit like Souls games
The problem is that SOuls games have the whole package, not just action combat that a billion games already have
This looks boring beyond belief for now
I have been following this game since 2011 when it was announced as "Project RPG" . I was a bit worried after watching CGI trailer but this gameplay got me interested again . Going to be awesome game , making the game PC centric is also a huge bonus for me .
