I watched it and I watched the gameplay vids and I have just seen nothing special about it.

It's pretty I'll give it that. But the gameplay vid had this unplayable opening of a crazy giant battle with thousands of guys. It was awsome right up until the game started. Everyone stood there and one at a time they fought in the most generic turn based RPG ever. It was extreamly slow paced and just didn't fit or stand out in any meaningful way.

The story seems to have promise and the visuals are OK, but I just don't see this game being all that. I'm a big RPG fan, so I hope I'm wrong...but I just don't see the appeal.

i agree 100%. I was watching the trailr and it looked amazing, then they ruined it for me by making it a turn based snore fest.

Interesting topic...Im very excited for LO but don't make me less excited cuz you compared it to FF, I don't mind comparing new IPs with each other( LO, WKS ,ES, ME)but when it comes to FF you watch out.

Every new console comes, SE managed to make gamers feel delighted, FF7 was the revulotion of RPGs.

1-best graphics backthen.

2-best battle system.

3-I didn't see any better system than the materia yet.

4-great story, Aeris death was the greatest moment of video games, all time.

FF8 was magnifecent, I didn't believe that SE will pull something great as FF7 but they delivered, it was another great FF.

1- Best graphics backthen.

2- Best battle system.

3- I wish to see the Seed test again, it was something new and fun.

4- Great story, everyone loved to see Squall dancing with Rinoa.

5- GF was great.

FF9 was generic.

PS2 came and FF10 came.

1- Huge graphical leap.

2- Great battle system.

3- great complex story.

4- Blitzball was fun.

I think FF7 =FF8 = FF10 in matter of quality.

PS3 came and FF13 will come.

1- Huge graphical leap that makes SE one of the best Developers in the graphic department, they do impress me everytime they make a new FF or any other game in new consoles , so I don't think LO will be half of what FF13 will look.

2- Great battle system from what we all saw.

3- Great gameplay system or whatever you call it, IM sure of that.

4- Great story I hope.

I will be buying LO though but I will not compare it to FF, it is just like comparing Splinter Cell to MGS, it doesn't fit.

What I've learned from this thread - The only logical reason behind people disliking any of these games is because they're not on their console of choice.

Lost oddyssey is going to be good. I can't wait.

Other rpgs that has a great storyline and gameplay were Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy 6.

I thought that final fantasy 12's storyline was crap but gameplay was decent.

3-5 people, does not a great game make.

Just like Blue Dragon is a poor mans Dragon Quest, this looks to be like another poor mans Final Fantasy. I don't see whats so great here, or what to be excited about really, unless you're a huge rpg fan...which most Xbots aren't...

Come on, how can any game exceed FF13 in sales. I mean, Mistwalker has one guy from SE and all the sudden their whole company is comprised of these masterminds????? THat guy had some good ideas, but hes just copying SE, and doing a rather stinky job of it too. ;)snorlaxmaster

Lost Odyssey is my dark horse for GOTY. I just get this feeling every time I watch those vids, it all feels so epic and emotionally-charged, and I can't help but relate that to the feelings I got when playing FFVII.

The main theme is already ingrained in my memory, and the music in general is classic Uetmatsu. The setting looks fantastic, the characters seem intriguing, I want to learn more about them. Definitely my most anticipated RPG this year.
