Maybe he isn't in the know when it comes to gaming? First of all January - March is a slow time period for sales. 2nd, MS lost one of their 3 360 production companies last quarter, meaning fewer 360s were made. 3rd, it is obvious that MS slowed core and premium production, not only because they lost 1 out of 3 production companies, but they were making Elites, a rumor that has been around since last year. 4th, they are also gearing up to get the new 65nm chip into their systems, which should start production this spring. 5th, the Wii and PS3 are now available.
5Â factors as to why the 360 sales are down. Obviously next quarter will be a strong quarter. MS, I believe, has already signed a 3rd production company, the Elite comes out this weekend and will be available all quarter, more games are coming out and production of the 65nm chip will mean production will be back in full force. They predicted to have 12 million shipped by the end of June and from the looks of things, they will meet that goal or surpass it.
360 sales will go through the roof this holiday season. 1st, the games (Halo 3, GTA IV, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, etc). 2nd, a price drop is coming, probably as early as July, considering price drops are normally announced and begin right before E3 or during E3.
You know what I found interesting. Look at the npd numbers for march, febuary, and january. And add up the sales in japan.

228,000Â in febuary
294,000 in january

721,000. Is it me or do I think that xbox 360 didn't sell 10 million last year, and was around the 8 million mark?

Only an idiot would believe MS had 2.4 million units just laying around.

Wait so they had 100,000 worldwide xbox 360 not sold yet? That is the only plausible way that they sold 10 million last year. Or maybe they were somewhere in the 8.8-9.2 million range?[QUOTE="TheEvilBaron"][QUOTE="eastside49er"][QUOTE="-Sir-Poof-"]Does this mean sales are starting to slow down a lot for the 360?eastside49er

So a basic answer to my question would have been, yes, yes they have slowed down.

By the way, I believe we all know that the 10.4 million number is shipped to retail, just like Nintendo and Sony numbers. No one is denying that and it was obvious they shipped more than they sold. I doubt it was 2.4 million more, like you implied with your first post, but with in the 500 to 600 thousand range, sure.

And it would be naive to think the 360 was sold out or had limited units available.

retailers had to have more then 600k units stock piled for ms to lower their year end sales numbers by june 31 to a whole 2-3 million lower.

Well what I got from that response was the indication that you believed Microsoft had sold 10.4 million to consumers; since they weren't 'just laying around' according to you. If I would've seen your other post after that I would've said otherwise.

Yeah making emocons proves your point....NOT. Its quite simple really Ms stuffed the channels to meet their target of 10 mil. of whitch MANY were unsold sitting in stores thats why they lowered their shipments. All you fanboys make me laugh. You think the Wii and PS3 will make it to 10 million before the 360 does!!!!!   :lol:Â The reason for the lower shipments is MS is releasing a new console the Elite and also making revsions to the hardware getting ready for the 65nm chipset.
