ps3 could easily do 1080p at 60fps. thats what its made for. Sonys first party sports games do this. . i guess they havent educated 3rd parties enough i gues.

My bet is it has something to do with the RAM being capped off on PS3 between CPU & GPU at 256 each, instead of having the 512 free to have ready w/e information is needed from either source.

My guess is this is incorrect :). PS3's dedicated XDR memory would to me serve a much more usefull purpose than a shared pool of 512mb of GDDR3.
Sounds like the Dev's fault- if the PS3 plays games like Lair and HS just fine.... it should be able to hold Madden fine, right?
By the way, it's not just Madden that is effected,
"We have confirmed the Xbox 360 versions of Madden NFL 08 (August), All-Pro Football 2K8 (July), and NCAA Football 08 (July) will run at 60 frames per second, whereas the PS3 editions are locked at just 30fps. In the simplest of terms, this means that the 360 versions will run smoother and faster, and you'll have an easier time noticing subtle animations."
From 1up.com. Looks like PS3 only American Football gamers got the inferior version of every football game going!
