Madden 2011 fails again says IGN

Wow they are getting worse. IGN gave Madden 2010 an 8.9

Is there any hope for the series other than the standard roster update?

I have no use for Madden games, but I challange any gaming series to come up with a yearly update as anticipated as Madden that scores as high as it does, 15 years running. Id never buy madden, but it is what it is... a cool football game with yearly updates.

Who cares? I don't see the whole fun of a yearly sports game and the ripoff price tag. The last Madden for me was 2005 and the last BEST football game for me was 2K5. Since then I have absolutely NO INTEREST in any type of sports game that comes out every year. I mean really $60 a pop? Jesus Christ!!!! For what exactly....Minor tweaks and slight upgrades?

Well after getting NCAA 11 and that being garbage I won't be getting Madden because it'll be just as bad and I'm all set on that.

I'm not saying 8.0 is bad , but don't you think when a sequel scores a point or more less , it's not going in the right direction.

how did it get an 8? I mean what did it do other than the new voice announcer? And lets face it when thats your most exciting edition to a game then your in trouble. They really need to start punishing madden in review scores if they keep pulling this stuff every year. I mean yes on their own they are all good but I mean come on...

madden fails every year and it will continue to fail until EA loses the exclusive NFL license. they have no reason to change anything with the game because there is absolutely no competition. i refuse to buy madden until the monopolistic exclusive license is removed. i played the demo and it seems like the same old madden to me. slow, choppy gameplay with the same old graphics. the only changes i noticed were that they changed little control aspects like hot routes and such. and how about the "new" kicking feature that was in the old madden games years ago. i swear these madden games are just roster updates with minor control changes to make it seem different.

with that being said, i owned every madden from 2001 through 2009 (except for 2003, i bought 2k3) and it was probably my most played game each year.

its 8.0 and an 8.0 is honestly pretty good for a yearly sports game. Other sites are reviewing it higher so i don't think you have to worry

In my opinion , sports games fall under a different standard because they have always had a new game coming out every year. In my opinion , it's just one big dev cycle because you already have the framework from which to work. You already have you next gen engine/features/controls mapped out . All they have to do is tweak/polish/ add new players/scale attributes and add some new bug free features in , but it hasn't seemed to work out that way.

This isn't Halo 3 where they have to create a new storyline/game engine.

An 8.9 isn't exactly indicative of garbage.

85% of Madden's audience doesn't care what the game scored so...it won't matter if they punish them in the reviews. Its made for big football fans (which I am one), but even I don't see the need to buy Madden every year I usually buy ever 2 years...or if someone I really like is on the cover.

You dont need IGN to tell you that madden is complete GARBAGE nowadays. You would think EA SPORTS biggest franchise would be the main focus but it seems like they gave it to a bunch of people who dont know football and said "OK MAKE A GAME!". Just download the demo...Its complete and utter garbage. There is nothing to like. The commentary is sooo robotic! Where is Al michaels? Did he quit play by play? The graphics...Used to be such a high point in madden and now is crap. Its like they stayed the same but got worse over time. NHL and Fifa look twice as good and they arent even close to as popular. Anyway my 2 cents. I am a huge football fan and would love a great football game.

Well I would agree with that, but I do live in america and when Madden comes out the stores are packed...When Fifa comes out (Which I own, and LOVE), you dont even notice it.

Went to the IGN site to today to read Madden review. My internet secuirity said it was trying to download a trojan horse from the the site and blocked it. went to the second page of review and said same thing. Never ever have i seen this before. They must have hacked the Madden review. because haven't seen it since.

This will be the first Madden I skip since 04. Im really upset EA does not focus more on offline franchise mode and Supestar mode. I rarely play Madden online and is it so freaking hard to have a good offline franchise mode EA!!!!???? I remember how much fun I had on the old Maddens setting ticket prices,looking at my attendance charts,moving teams to different cities,etc... I love the Madden series but I cant justify paying for useless features to me and the same crap almost every year. I played NCAA football 11 and the game is alot better then Madden imo. Guess that will be my only football fix I get this season. The Madden demo turned me off after the first quarter and the reviews I have read so far although good bring up alot of concerns I have always had with Madden yet I overlooked them because i just wanted to play some pro football. I hope Ea loses the NFL license soon so other companies can try to make a better football game. Maybe they need a fire lit under their butts to get going on making Madden better. You dropped the ball EA.
