to me a game of this size should not see daylight until march at the earliest...why exactly? look at how big the game is going to be in terms of map size and players.....they will not have this game running flawlessly with no lag and 256 people per map with no Framrate drops by november....sony doesnt announce big games and rush them out the door so why do it to this game?[QUOTE="Indie_Hitman"][QUOTE="stereointegrity"]to me a game of this size should not see daylight until march at the earlieststereointegrity...why exactly? look at how big the game is going to be in terms of map size and players.....they will not have this game running flawlessly with no lag and 256 people per map with no Framrate drops by november....sony doesnt announce big games and rush them out the door so why do it to this game?
Are you monitoring to progress done on MAG or something? It was announced at last year's E3 and I'm sure that it has been in development for much longer. They should be able to have it out in November if they've worked hard enough on it.

Precisely what I think too.I doubt it. MAG's launch needs to be *perfect* for the game to be successful, so I'm sure it'll be pushed back into 2010 for more polishing and balancing.

Yup, if we get a repeat of Socom, then i'm going to cry. It doesn't have to be perfect in every way, as something will always need work. However it does have to perform well right off the bat.
That's a good date. I hope it's ready. I hope it doesn't cost a monthly fee.According to Gamestop, the game will release on Nov. 24

The issue isn't whether or not Zipper is a quality developer, it's the sheer logistics of creating and balancing a multiplayer-only game for 128 v. 128 games. If one significant bug makes it past the testers or if one major ability/class is unbalanced, you run the risk of killing the game and franchise. The game has been in development for 3 years and is going into beta soon. It will definitely come out in November, Zipper does not suck like Slant Six.
Kahuna_1
I dont think its right saying this but Sony should delay it for more polishing, theres enough games this year as it is, they should hold back GT5, MAG and GoW3 all for 2010, so they ensure a good start

Yeah how are we supposed to have an idea when the game started. Plus when was the last time Zipper released a game? I am surprised we haven't heard of a beta though, I'd imagine they would want to do quite a bit of bug testing and such.Maybe I'm just being negative, but history has taught me well. I'd be surprised if this game isn't pushed back. I'm already surprised nobody has mentioned the fact that it's still called Massive Action Game, and not something a little less drawing board.musicalmacIt's called MAG , not Massive Action Game.

Balancing could be another big issue with classes and whatnot. The only problem with getting the game out on time would be because they released a beta too late.According to Gamestop, the game will release on Nov. 24

That's a good date. I hope it's ready. I hope it doesn't cost a monthly fee. what is it with these monthly fee posts, you mention mag and like clockwork one shows up. there isn't a fee, there was never going to be one, it has been confirmed quite a few times now. not meaning to sound rude, just annoyed that this still gets asked when it's so easy to find out it doesn't.[QUOTE="Kahuna_1"]The issue isn't whether or not Zipper is a quality developer, it's the sheer logistics of creating and balancing a multiplayer-only game for 128 v. 128 games. It's called MAG , not Massive Action Game. What does it stand for? Or is it just MAG now? I hadn't heard anything either way.[QUOTE="musicalmac"]Maybe I'm just being negative, but history has taught me well. I'd be surprised if this game isn't pushed back. When did it get changed to just MAG? I don't remember anything about it getting named, renamed, or otherwise.[QUOTE="Nike_Air"]When did it get changed to just MAG? I don't remember anything about it getting named, renamed, or otherwise.Wednesday , during the Zipper Q and A on the PS Blog I believe ..... probably even before that I would imagine. MAG doesn't really need the massive action game thing, the first thing I think of is magazine for a weapon ..... and then I think of war. It's a fine name for a title , just forget the massive action game - that just helps describe it. Now they are really into talking about the pesistent shadow war in the game between the 3 factions.Just MAG now, officially.

1. NO MONTHLY FEE!
2. MAG: Shadow War
3. 3 Years in development - That's long enough for an online only game
4. A beta will be available soon
5. 11/09 release date - Has not been confirmed by Zipper or Sony
