Just seeing how long everyonehere has been a PC gamer. One of the 1st PC game that I was addicted to was magic carpet, one of the early games made on the Windows 95 OS. This game looked awsome for it's time, but it's actually kind of funny to watch the opening intor now, I remember that looking a lot better lol.

Anyway here is the intro and some of the gameplay. Hope this brings back memories :)

Yeah, I think you're right on that. That was my mistake. It was released in 94 and worked on both platfrms. I was a bit young at the time so I think you can forgive me on my mistake there :)

It was one of the greatest games of all time imho. I just wished the multiplayer ever worked ... that would have been awesome. (Or was it MC2 that had Multiplayer?) Nonetheless ... i still have the MagicCarpet 1 package standing in my gaming room. Nice to see people dont forget about great games!

I think i remember buying a 60 MHz pentium for that game :)

Yeah, I remember that one, although I never liked it too much. What about Magic Carpet 2?

I just thought of something when you said the "intro seemed to look better", I used to think the same thing of the Mechwarrior 2 intro. I used to think "Man, I wish games looked like that!", I think they've actually surpassed the Intro CGI, lol.

lol, I hear ya. A gaming computer then when compared to one now is.....rediculous!! lol. Our frist Windows 95 pc was a Compaq and it was over $2000.00. We still havae it and the tower is about 3 times bigger than the current pc I'm using.

Yeah I remember that one. I had the PS1 version (or was it PS2?). I agree it was addictive but once I got to the higher levels I found it way more frustrating than fun thanks to the unbelievably cheap opponents.

For some reason, this reminded me of Menzoberranzan. A DOS game.

I had this for the Saturn!

It had some really annoying music, but I remember how awesome the visuals were for the time!

Never played Magic Carpet. Played Magic Carpet 2. That was quite an intresting game, considering the stuff you could do the environment. It was a rather unique concept which hasn't quite translated over to more modern games in where environments are still rather static, oryou have preset areas which would change.

Huh, never knew that it came out on the Saturn, but it did on the Ps1 though for sure. Yeah, this was the high end new tech stuff when it came out. Needed a "great" computer to fully take advantage of it's graphix and 8 player network support

There are still things that haven't translated through the generations though, like terrain morphing. Evey single piece of land could be manipulated through your powers. The only thing even close to what I've seen currentgen when compared to this is the new Force Unleashed "real" enviornments.

Yea I had it free with my first ever PC ... I thought it was awesome ... they should make more odd games like these, nowadays its all specificly crafter around certain aspects of the genres...

Look at Starfox .. they crippled it X_x ... buh buh nintendo needs platformer elements X_x

Wow!I had forgotten about Magic Carpet. I used to love that game back in the pinnacle of PC gaming. I used to play Magic Carpet, Wing Commander, the original Alone in the Dark -- I loved those old games.

I remember that game! You would build towers with fire and water and stuff (I played it on PS1).
