Just looks so good and interesting...I'm sure the 360 could run it on low-medium setting, you don't need DX10 so thats fine. Should be interesting to see how it stacks up against Halo 3. Crysis just could be the game to go beyond and take the FPS crown (yes i know its alil far fetched) but gameplay wise..it looks to offer way more. Customization, upgrades, interactions, using anything as a weapon basically..etc etc. The physics are just f'en insane. Just the story needs to hold up..we shall see.

Thoughts?

I don't think Crysis could run well on consoles. Just think though, a Wii version of Crysis.

If the games really interested you you could........I don't know, buy a gaming rig for 550-2K depending on how much you want to whoop the consoles.

If you want exclusives for a certain system, get the system. Not any different for high-profile exclusives on the 360, PS3, and Wii.

Being that the 360 couldn't even run Oblivion maxed outm I have severe doubts about that.

and limit the game, wasting the developers money, time and focus in order to deliver a downgraded port

if anything, crysis needs to stay pc exclusive just to push more people to upgrading their pcs

the faster the standards of specs rise, the more games we can see taking advantage of good hardware

heck, if standards rose , we could be seeing more q3 standalones with the graphic appeal of doom3

im sure the ps3 and 360 could do a perfectly decent dx9 version.

but, that will be too much work for them.  so it wont happen

Crysis needs to stay PC exclusive. Porting it would only ruin the franchise (Call of Duty).

The fact it was developed with one core in mind rather than the 3 cores of the 360 would make it sluggish, Anyways if they were to do it again i belive it would run buttery smooth, I think Crysis can be done on the 360 in Dx9 with the resolution at 720p, Not as some ultra high pc resolution but only 720x1260 which is rather low, Turn some things of here and their and its doable, Though id rather them create the whole game again made for consoles instead of porting it.

I saw an article on n4g.com that said it was confirmed for the PS3.  Granted, you often have to take n4g.com with a grain of salt, being user-submitted and all.

No, but Crytek has hinted at a multiplatform game being made in a different studio which uses CryENGINE 2. Crysis is currently planned only for the PC.

*sigh* Not this PC greater than Consoles argument again. TBH, I think Consoles can run Crysis on max, not a straight port, but a clean new build. Crysis is the best looking game right now, but its nothing that cant be reach by consoles in a few years I believe. For an example, compare PS2 launch games to current gen PS2 games.

Although MGS3NE is'nt a current wave PS2 game, it still looks far beyond first wave PS2 games:

Twisted Metal Black was released in 2000 I think

I dont know about you, but I see a major leap in what PS2 did/can do.

Will consoles do Crysis type graphics? Yes in time :)

Art styles won't help games cheat their way up to Crysis level. It's simply generations ahead in every area. Crysis is the biggest technical achievement since Doom or Quake. This ain't Half-life 2 with higher res textures, or Doom 3 with better shadows. Crysis does it on every level and adds completely new technical things.

Meh, you didnt get my point. I honestly don't see what the fuss is about. Crysis looks amazing, even more amazing technically. From what I see thats coming to PS3/360 looks on par with Crysis visually, without all the technicalitys in between and before this generation of gaming is over, I believe we will even see games that are technically on par with Crysis, catching it visually wont be a problem as I believe some games coming out this year look just as good or better in some aspects:). Thats my opinion, a reasonable one at the very least.

By then, id Software, Valve and Epic will be pumping out DX10 powered games on the PC. Maybe even DX11.

Crysis like FarCry will eventually make it to consoles in some form.

I would expect it to look as good or better.  The PS3 and 360 will produce some jaw dropping games in the next few years.

True. Will consoles catch PC spec games at the same time? Nope. Will consoles catch Crysis level games? Yes and by the end of this generation to. The only thing I see in Crysis that blows consoles away is the enviornment/destructabiliy, but as far as character models I have to say that they are not to far apart at all and they look absolutely amazing to say the least.

There will be no game on consoles that will match up to Crysis fully. Soft shadows? That's not even in any console games. And yes they could be done in DX9 (FEAR PC). And the character models match Shrek CGI. From the look, to the facial movements.

It's simply in a league of it's own. It will be at least another 3 years before a game on the PC actually manages to match it on every level.

Oblivion is already a watered down enough version I am pretty sure Crysis would be a shell of a game on consoles. Just get a PC they aren't that expensive in comparison to consoles if you are smart.

Agreed. Once devs get more familiar with the new consoles hardware, they could probably find ways to emulate a lot of the visual techniques Crysis is doing. Yeah, Oblivion took a major hit from its PC counterpart, but that was also very near launch. I think in time, Crysis could be consoles.

Well they are brining the Cry Engine 2 to the consoles, even rumors of a PS3 version of Crysis but nothing has been confirmed. Just don't expect that DX10 PC quality.

The 360 and PS3 cant produce visuals on par with crysis.  There hardware isnt a mystery, the PS3 doesnt have near enough texture units and the 360 is severely lacking the pixel power.

Im sure theyll both have very good looking games, but nothing that will bring it together like Crysis.

Anyway onto the OP's original point yes Crysis gameplay is truely looking to be in a leauge of its own right now.  I cant wait.

The only thing I see in Crysis that blows consoles away is the enviornment/destructabiliy, but as far as character models I have to say that they are not to far apart at all and they look absolutely amazing to say the least.Pro_wrestler

I personally find the character models are one of the really advanced parts of Crysis, especialy the facial detail:

If I look at it crysis doesn't look way better . If a PS2 could do those kinds of graphics PS3 and 360 should be able to do crysis pretty well.turgore

Well they are brining the Cry Engine 2 to the consoles, even rumors of a PS3 version of Crysis but nothing has been confirmed. Just don't expect that DX10 PC quality.Wasdie
The CryEngine 2 is very flexible. And the DX9 version isn't that much different minus more detailed shadows and other subtle fancy effects.

A single wave in Crysis has more technical spazz than the entire game of FarCry, according to Crytek.
