Well if you two both had listened to the Podcast, he explains why their isn't a review up yet. either way it doesn't matter, the game outsold forza 7 in the UK and in Japan, and most likely here in the USA as well.
So games are no longer reviewed when they come out, we have to wait for features to be added ?
I don't play sales I play games

It's not a feature that's been added. It a big part of the main game that can't be played until November.
I don't know. Peter is a goofball.
I've only ever heard him when he guests on the giant bombcast and he seems okay and certainly know his onions when it comes to retro stuff. Why is he a goofball?

He has low balled some games this year. Not exclusive to a platform but he does go an extra mile to stand out here.
@xantufrog: Lol because they postponed MS games to wait for more content. No, they reviewed it in the state it was in, as they should. If you want to explain how they're not showing bias, please enlighten me. Also give me an example of another game they did this for.
I'm not getting into that with you.
1) it was a joke
2) I can't remember any examples of it either, so I share your concern
3) I actually think this is the right way for them to review such games, and would like your precious MS to get that treatment in the future too
Fanboyism diffused?
Definitely teh bias.
But nah, there's a worthwhile convo to be had here. Don't have to focus on these two titles in particular, but rather the ridiculous break neck pace of reviewing games. It's not the early 90s anymore, lots of games are very long, very complex, and some games/genres really do need to be released to the wild and played in their natural state before a proper analysis can really be made. For example, day 1 reviews for fighting games are pretty silly, you can't even begin to grasp how good/bad a fighting game is that early. Similar deal with online focused games, playing with a limited pool of other reviewers for a few days isn't going to yield the most thoughtful impressions.
Video games aren't movies. Not some 2 hour time investment with all the time in the world to put your thoughts down afterwards. Yet game reviews work on that same pace. Not to excuse the clowns that make up the majority of paid reviewers out there, but it is a lot to expect depending on the game in question.
It's a race for the clicks I suppose, which is (partially) why most reviews read as surface level buyers guides rather than actual reviews.

Though sure, the GT sport thing seems like a sweet and uncommon favor here. I don't think it's the wrong approach. Why not thoroughly review a game based on the experience it provides in the long run? But it sure looks sketchy when so many other games that probably need similar treatment don't get it.

Well, just off the top of my head, there was Halo: Master Chief Collection that they waited a week after the embargo was up to give MS a chance to get matchmaking working and fix bugs. There was also Divinity: Original Sin where the reviewer (KVO) was working with the developer to solve bugs for a couple weeks after release. But both of those were games that released with major flaws, not a grand idea like GTS that needs time to develop and realize, so not exactly the same.
@asylumni: shhhh don't take away the reason for lemmings to act like crybabies with facts. Crying is all they have left.
Have you ever made a post without the words "crying" & "lemmings" in it dakurt???

And people say that Gamespot isn't bias towards Xbox. How can they say that with a straight face.

A big part of the MCC was the online MP of all 4 games which didn't work at release for a great many people. Was there a week wait? sure. Oct 17 to Nov 3 isn't a week, its almost 3. Review what consumers are being sold on launch day or week like most other games. This "big part of the main game" wasn't available for consumers on Oct 17 and still isn't today. The review should reflect that not wait for it. The people at Gamespot favor PS. It isn't a secret at this point.
A major part of the game is an event that happens on a specific date.
To properly review the game in its current state without excluding anything, they must wait until the event happens to properly grade it.
I don't see any problem with this. This is different than waiting for DLC or day one patches. This is currently in the game (on everyone's launch version of the digital or physical copy), just not accessible.
@lukeasaurusrex: they did the same shit to driveclub and few other ps exclusives so relax.
In fact its more common for PS tittles to take this hit as their exclusives often dont have dedicated servers.
Were always getting points off for temporary states.
What happened to the Master chief collection was hilarious tho lol
