why on earth would you want to play 52 player mario kart? it be like nascar...only a little more fun to watch.
The article didn't say anything about races not having 16 players racing against each other. It certainly is a possibility but tracks, starting positions, and scoring systems for Grand Prix races among other things would have to be adjusted for 16 players. Either that, or have teams a la Double Dash, though communication will probably be iffy if they don't have voice enabled.
If theyannounce a 16 Kart Grand Prix, then it'll definitely have 16 Kart online racing.

Oh, and I just wanted to add. Sega and Nintendo bless us with the presence of the greatest racer there is in the near future with as many players online as possible. A new F-Zero game, por favor.
