I bought my Wii basically for this game and SMB. The games delievers so much fun. The real question is it the best mutliplayer game on console? The mini-games on it can be racing games, shooter, sports, action and many type of genres rolled up in one. AAAA series in my book.

My brother is getting a wii in 2 weeks and I agree, MP has always been a great game, I remember being with my friends playing that game for hours.Â
My gripe with the MP series is that it was almost all the same during the GC lifespan and yes, I thought that MP2 was better than the rest!!! Hopefully the first Wii MP game will be the first MP to actually be good!!! I don't mind if the 9th game has online with downloadable mini games, that will be sweet!!!
I will definitely look into getting this game. I liked the ones on the 64 but felt the controller was never really great for it and never really tried any of the GC versions.

I hated that Tug o war game where its 3 against 1 and that you had 3 of your friends against you!!!
Apparently, in MP8, there are a lot of button games (ON THE WII) and not enough motion sensing games. Also, the motion sensing games are said to have tacked on controls.

Shungokustasu, hardcore fighting game fan, loves Mario Party? I never would have expected it. They seem like polar opposites to me, with the multiplayer focus the only thing they share in common.
I'm not really a Mario Party fan myself. The series, from my experience, has barely changed since the first one. I don't know how much the Wii's controls will fix that sense of deja vu that seems inevitable in Mario Party 8. Â
I love them, but the GC ones weren't that great, because they were the same as the N64 games but less inspired games. However, the mini games look much better thanks to the new Wii control. I just can't wait to try this out and play with some friends and family. The one thing that I bought the GC games for, were just playing with friends, it never had a really solid SP mode, but break out the chips, soda, and fists when playing multi. :P

The franchise has always been mediocre, I see no reason for this title to be any different. Sure, the Wiimote has some nifty tricks up it's sleeve, but what does that matter when the core gameplay mechanics are sub-par?

I was a victim of that game. Ripped the skin off my palm. Couldn't play N64 for a week. Stung like hell when I tried to hold the controller.Â

your right, if it manages to be better than Melee (easily the best multiplayer game on console know to man) than it still has Brawl to beat. which with those new gooey bombs, and Solid Snakes explosive attitude, looks to be awesome. i am going to be saying
