Mark Rubin: COD looks so much better on PS4 than on Xbone

hoohah brother. I always go with both PS and Xbox consoles. I am getting the X1 first because of the launch line up and the entertainment features. Plus I love NFL football so that should be cool. PS4 will follow, probably next year sometime. I've been having fun with that kid all day when I pop in to my laptop. He claims 720p is a blurry mess. Now I understand fanboys will always put down the other console, but just a few months ago TLOU was like the second coming. It runs 720p. I have no problem seeing the images clearly but evidently I'm wrong and its all blurry. Its been laughs all day for me and a few retired buds who play games.

Kid we both most likely have hit targets in real life during war that you would have a hard time shooting on your fake war sim on your sofa. So if our eyes are good enough for uncle sam pretty sure they work fine for a video game. The ps4 has better graphics than the x1 we got that but I will buy the pc version. Let that sink in while you think 1080p is the holy grail.

Wow 720p is horrible now and the next gen consoles are not here yet got to love it. I am a pc gamer aka hermit but that don't stop me from enjoying console exclusives at 720p and below.

Stalker shadow of Chernobyl on one of my soldiers PC while pulling 24 staff duty. Don't miss those duty shifts at all but SPC Schroeder was a good kid with one hell of a rig. Not that big of a deal, grab the average crappy console port on PC, like Dark Souls, put it to 1080p, not that much of a difference compared to Consoles

Lots of you think the Frame-rate issues are because of 1080p on the PS4 and think the X1 is gonna be perfectly smooth at 720p. This is where people are jumping to conclusions. First, no one has mentioned the x1 version other than it's 720p. The credible sources for the FPS on the PS4 say it's pretty much during checkpoints, very intense scenes in the SP and other non gameplay affecting areas. This right here points that it's not because the PS4 can't handle it in 1080p.

What my conclusion is that it's the game engine. So far we know the PC, PS4 and PS3 have these wonky times where it dips and possibly X1. I gave this example in another thread too. Back 2 years ago I was playing the Witcher 1 on my PC. Even with a Core i7 920 overclocked to 3.5ghz and a Radeon 5870, I was getting large frame rate dips and the main city at the end of the game was getting between 20-30, no matter what graphical setting, no matter what resolution. When I researched it, I found it's because the game engine is the Aurora engine, an older engine from the Single core CPU days. The engine itself wasn't optimized for multiple cores, and this is why I was getting the horrible framerate at times. It was made for a fast single core CPU, while my i7 is way stronger, it stronger because 4 hyperthreaded cores work together. The witcher was only trying to use 1 core, so it wasn't keeping up.

This goes to my theory that since Call of duty is still using the id Tech 3 engine, and while they have pumped up the graphical effects, I don't think they have optimized it much for multi core cpu's. It might only be using 2 or 3 of the 360's, but on everything else (PC having 4-8, PS4 8, X1 8) and being lower clocked, their strength is all the cores working together. Now with CoD:G being an older engine and not being optimized to use all the proper cores in these newer CPU's is creating the random frame rate drops.

Pretty sure the X1 is going to have the same FPS issues PC, PS3 and PS4 are having as I think this is the reason

It looks like an average current-gen game no matter what platform you play it on, hell even BlOps 2 looks better. What's pathetic is how Infinity Ward/Activision are pretending they can't get their terrible-looking game running at 1080p/60 FPS on both PS4 and XB1: it's pure ineptitude. And the insanely high recommended specs for the PC version are attempts to mislead customers dumb enough to compare them to BF4's and decide Collar Duty is the more demanding game.

There are PC gamers here who game on higher res than 1080 yet they can see the images in 720p very clearly. Again, why are you a liar?

Mark Rubin hasn't worked on the new XB1 Devkits yet confirmed. He doesn't know what the future holds because they haven't used all the new features on the most current devkit. Things should be interesting once they do.

Because its been a long ass time since 720p isn't 'good enough' and saying that im the only one telling you that 720p is blurry pretty much confirms it. @silversix_: I watched the video son. I never once today in our exchange have said there is no difference in 720p or 1080p. All I have done is ask repeatedly why your a liar. 720p is not blurry. Nobody here sees it that way, otherwise what have they been playing on consoles this year? Why was TLOU so highly regarded? Nobody once said great story and gameplay, too bad I cant see the images because 720p is a blurry mess. I've been posting here since April of 2006. If 720p is 2007 standards, (self imposed limitations) why have you been gaming? Why make yourself disappointed? When I play KZSF on my PS4 and its 1080p, then Forza 5 on my X1 and its 1080p, then..........wait for it..I go and play Metal gear solid, the first one, I will be enjoying gaming. All of them. I really get the feeling I get more simple enjoyment out of gaming than you do. Because, well for one, I don't lie about it, two I'm open to enjoy any game on any platform. Because they wanted it out around the same time as the PS4. They wanted it out before Black Friday. They've made some good changes, but they could have made some more. The system will be fine and will definitely be doing 1080P native 60fps for the majority of its games in the future.

720p to 1080p is a HUGE difference.

Gaming journalism is a farce. They are to close with developers and console makers (all these nice press events and free stuff) ..they need to be friendly to get access and dependent on advertising money from said companies.

Its great that at least some news papers have journalist that can be independent and can ask the hard question. The Metro interview is great and shows exactly what is wrong with this industry.
