... because it is a "prototype" to what Mass Effect 2 come to be. One of the greatest game ever and a RPG with no match in history.
.
Im replaying it, and it's incredible how it feel totally outdated after ME2... The things that made me love it when I first played are all there, the history, the chracters, the choices, but all the game feel like a bete to something much bigger.
.
Mass Effect should be like the 2nd one, and the 2nd and 3rd would just be a natural evolution, with no big changes.

Haha, but you'll probably be saying the same thing when ME3 rolls around and makes ME2 feel ancient.

I feel exactly the same! Not that it should be remade (nah...) but i went back to it after Mass Effect 2 and it feels like a last-gen game.

It's not very different from ME2. The core of it is the same, it just has an inventory and deeper RPG elements.

It's doesn't need to be remade as much as it needs to be polished.

Problem is, ME is just so damn short, literally only like 5 or 6 areas in the entire main story, everything else is mind numbingly boring side-quests, its not hard to do much better..

I wouldn't mind it. I've played so much ME1 though, and I'm sort of used to how everything is in-game, even after playing 2.

What's the point? Every improvement ME1 needed is already in ME2, like what a sequel is supposed to do. Just accept what came before, how things are now, and move on.

I dislike the inventory in Mass Effect 1... You would pretty much acquire a lot of crap over time and it would take a long time to convert all of it to omni gel

That was my only big problem with the game

Except that gamers have moved on from the first, to the newest game, just as they'll move on from ME2 to ME3. So really, as I asked before, what's the point?

I don't think it should be remade, but there is definitely a big improvement in ME2. Just a shame that there's so little to do in ME2. I spend ages playing the first one, but I managed to do pretty much everything in one playthrough of ME2.

Priceless.

Give it up already. Every gamer recognizes it as an RPG. Your agenda and bias can't change that. Accept it or just give it up, because you aren't going to convince anyone

When the 3rd comes out they should remake the first two in that engine, then release it in a collection. They'd make a fortune, and we'd get heaven.

Oh yeah, I still remember when I jumped from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2 on pc. I thought that the combat system used the same keys on the keyboard as the first one, what a mistake. I think that ME1 is great as it is, it feels more like a RPG than ME2. And as many people has said, the main complaint of the first one is the inventory system, it is so darn short and that it has alot of bugs but after that it is one of the best games of this generation.

mimimimi ME is not the same of a RPG 20 years ago so its not a RPG anymore... stop crying.

btw, saying ME is a better game than ME2 is not acceptable. It just make no sense. Sometime here people thing to much everything is a matter of opinion and it's not.

People are still arguing that a game with branching storylines, character customization, upgradeable weapons, and stat levelling is not an RPG?

...wtf?

Well, I didn't dislike it. I was simply meh. They ruined as many good things from the original as they fixed. I'm afraid to complain about it because I'm worried that they'll ruin even more things in ME3.

Well, if we're going to go back to a quality argument, in my opinion ME2 is the RPG of the generation. Amazing story line, compelling music and dialog, memorabe cast of characters, incredible production value, terrific combat and action, diversity in the cIasses and customization, and immersive character playing experience. Mass Effefct 2 is a stellar achievement :)

Well it would be cool, if they released a Mass Effect Trilogy after Mass Effect 3, similar to how Nintendo did the Metroid Prime Trilogy, all three games for $60 would be awesome. With improved graphics and gameplay.

I disagree. The story was poor compared to the first, with an incredibly lame final boss that ruined the entire plot for me. The music and characters I'll give you (save Jacob, Jack, Zaeed, and Kasumi). The combat was good, but poor side quests, bad level design, awful minigames, and the fact that it forced to roleplay a certain way make me dislike it. Oh, and it was WAY too short.

Try ordering you squad in ME1 the way you do in ME2 and you'll see the difference. The rpg element of ME1 is the same as ME2 out side of accuracy stats. Getting and doing missions in ME2 is way more easy that ME1 Also.

I'll give you the final boss. Pretty uninspired and all. But again, the story had lots of character exploration and continued to build upon the mythologies of this universe, with plenty of surprise revelations of the Reapers and the Protheans. The level design was also way improved over the first game, especially on side quest planets that were no longer barren rocks and cookie cutter installations.

As for the length, did you play every loyalty mission? Did you take on every side quest found on the hub planets as well as those found scanning some planets? I can tell you on my very first play through, my total play time was just under 60 hrs. Then on the subsequent play throughs, with the bonuses received to resources cutting down the needed scanning times, just little over 50 hrs.

I did play the entire game. Took me about 50 hours, did everything. However, I know someone who did everything in 22. I wasted a lot of time on mine, and I'm sure I could cut it down to around 25 if I hadn't screwed around so much. The Reaper/Prothean revelation was lame, imo. You don't care that the Protheans are the Collectors. It's just a "Meh, that's cool. Moving on." They were never developed enough as a civilization for us to care. It's supposed to be tragic and frightening, but they dropped the ball big time on that reveal. Characters were head and shoulders better, because ME1 has an awful cast. The only genuinely interesting ones are Wrex, Garrus, and Tali, and Garrus whines too much, and Tali's basically the Quarian codex. There's little depth. Not hard to be better than that. Here's why the final boss ruined it for me. The suicide mission (aside from being shockingly hard to lose people on) is really well done. I liked it. But a lot of the plot is a mystery. It's always "What are the Collectors doing with Human colonies?" and so you recruit, you learn more and you search for answers. But then you find out that they are building a giant Terminator. The entire reason for the abductions is... that? That's it? That's the evil plan? Yeah, people died. But you don't care. You didn't know them. There's no sense of consequence or urgency to stopping the Collectors, but when you get there... it's a Terminator. Worst plot twist and ending I think I've ever seen. The end result of the evil plan ruined the entire plot.

While I agree that ME 2 was one of the greatest gaming experiences I've had in a while, I don't believe Mass Effect 1 is in need of a remake. I wish they could release a patch to fix a lot of the texture pop up, but that's really my only gripe with the first one. Heck, Mass Effect 2 IS Mass Effect 1 remade!

I did play the entire game. Took me about 50 hours, did everything. However, I know someone who did everything in 22. I wasted a lot of time on mine, and I'm sure I could cut it down to around 25 if I hadn't screwed around so much.

If you had a 50 hr play though, how can you complain it's too short? And as for your friends, they had to have skipped out on a majority of the side missions, and probably didn't go through all the possible equipment upgrading if they ran through it in 20 hrs.

But that's they're own fault for not exploring every avenue the game designer provided for them. They chose not to play many of the game quest options. If you chose not to order the appetizer and dessert, don't complain about the meal not being filling enough.

I mean if that's how everybody played it, then ALL RPGs would only clock in at around 20 hrs.
