I'll say it. Overall the game isn't even close. Go ahead and check my posting history I'm an avid Crysis fan and defender (one of the best fps games ever) but after seeing Mass Effect 2, It is the first and only game with character models near the Crysis level. I don't think theyre better but they are in the same league. Anyone else agree? People talk about this games graphics a lot but the character models specifically are incredible!

What?! They might be the best aspect of Crysis' graphics. Every character detail and texture is super high res, the nanosuit texture is unmatched. Meanwhile rocks and trees and some foliage is a low res mess.

Mass Effect 2 is pretty, but comparing to Crysis's facial details it isn't quite close. Are you sure you were setting the model details and textures on max back in Crysis?

Yeah I played Crysis with everything maxed and 8xAA. on Natural Mod. I didn't say they were better or even equal just this is the first game to even be close. They're in the same league for sure. The facial details in mass effect are quite good as well as armor textures.

I disagree, once you get fairly close in conversation scenes it can get pretty bad especially the Volus which have terrible textures. On the other hand though Sheppard and some of the other main characters like Miranda look much better.

Disagree. They were kind of inconsistent, Sometimes they look plastic, other times they look pretty good.

The only one you could say is even close is the default male shepards face, the rest are varying between good and bad, and the animation can be very off with certain emotions like smiling. But ME2 has alot of charatcers, Crysis doesn't.

Be interesting to see Bioware make a game on Cryengine3...Jade Empire 2 maybe? :D

Both awesome games anyway.

Some of the textures made me cringe to be honest. I gave to disagree. I also have to say that UC2 had better character models.

They use the exact same assets on the 360 version I dont know why hermits act like the pc version looks so much better because if you played both the look identical other then RES,AA, AF and framerate. The texture models, lighting and geometry are all the same as the pc running it on max settings. That being said yes ME2 char models easily rival crysis the diffrence is that Crysis has amazing enviorments.

I'd say Crysis' ones still look better. Also PC and 360 versions uses the same assetsaside from anti-aliasing and texture filtering its exactly the same.

No it doesn't. Crysis does hyper-realism and Mass Effect has...I dunno what you would call it..."plastic-realism"?

Their were a ton of times in Mass Effect 2 were you could easily see poor texture work on the characters. Crysis does not have that problem.

Only a fanboy would see a massive diffrence between the two other then AA there virtually identical and you have to stare at them just to see that diffrence.

Um no there isnt read my orginal post . The PC version is using the exact same assets as proven in these screenshots . The only diffrence is image quality such as Res and AA. And thes screenshots further prove my point. Therefore if you do not think the 360 version of ME2 char models look as good as Crysis you couldnt logically say the PC version char models look better either.

I don't think either version is comparable to Crysis. The character models are blocky in comparison and the textures don't come close.

EDIT: There is a bigger difference and the more I look through the screenshots, the bigger the differences get.

Then everyone on SW can see for themselves how ridiculous that is , fanboys will usually see whatever they want but the proof doesnt lie and anyone with logic knows theres very little diffrence other then basic image quality.

No Crysis has far better. If you look at the armors/suits of the models in ME2, they have pixels all over them. I have the graphics on the highest settings too.

Anyway, ME games have never been known for their graphics. Please go and replay Crysis on ultra-high settings before making a thread like this.

Im playing ME2 right now on my PC, which runs it completely maxed out, and I know that isnt even remotely true. Crysis has the superior character models, but ME2 has some nice looking models.

The facial textures actually improve during cutscenes and dialogue trees in both Mass Effect games; it may be subtle but it's not like Crysis has to do those things.

Definitely take this topic back. When I posted this topic I was A) very early on in mass effect. yes the shepard miranda and jacob models are fantastic, many of the others are subpar. and B) hadnt played Crysis in awhile. Played some crysis last night. Thread revoked haha.

Close but the hands, arms and Shepards creepy smile kill it.
