Bar that Sonic game of course.
I love ME2, and it's one of my favorite games this gen, but i can't help but feel it's that much worse then previous bioware epics.
Am i alone in this?

It's Bioware's most polished and refined game ever. Not even Baldur's Gate can quite stack up these days to Mass Effect 2's level of greatness (nostalgia aside).
Jade Empire is THE worst.
I can't single out a any one bioware game to be labeled "the worse" honestly. They were all up to par.
imo yes because it is barely a role playing game and feels a lot like gears. KOTOR or baldurs gate 2 were their best games. this game is good, but definitely not up there with their best games
Yeap , you are alone... i think ME2 >> Many other epic games.. likeDAorigins etc.. Its different experience than classic RPG style and that is what makes it awesome. Movie like RPG.Bar that Sonic game of course.

Nothing can beat the level of detail in Baldur's Gate sorry. You could play those games for 300 hours and still have stuff to do.It's Bioware's most polished and refined game ever. Not even Baldur's Gate can quite stack up these days to Mass Effect 2's level of greatness (nostalgia aside).

ME2 already did. And I'm at around 120 hours, so I'll be past 200 in no time.

I seriously doubt you've played it that much, and found something new each time.
The game simply don't have that much content.

I would argue Neverwinter Nights.. The actual campaigns and what not were quite boring and the game was trying to design for the multiplayer toolset.sSubZerOoI do so too Jade Empire's story is still Biowares best, actually. Its their most meaningful.
I thought Jade Empire was excellent. Fairly short though ...
It was Kotor in china with an off battle system. That game is nothing like KOTOR...in fact the story is superior to KOTOR and more mature and meaningful.[QUOTE="dreman999"][QUOTE="-Snooze-"]It was Kotor in china with an off battle system. It just that the good/bad karma system felt like light side/dark side system in kotor. And you can see who was the bad guy a mile away. And kotor, that was a major twist.I thought Jade Empire was excellent. Fairly short though ...

[QUOTE="RichardStallman"]Completely agree, it's like Bioware forgot to put on this game what made their games good. I honestly lost all faith when Mass Effect 1 was released, but then DA:O restored my faith, and I thought it would be the same with ME2 but it resulted even worse than the first.skinny_man_69I don't think you read the OP because it stated that they actually liked the game and said it was one of their favourite games this gen Ignore him. ... No :|
JE was awesome though. NWN is the worst Bioware game I've played. Good character development system, some fairly entertaining combat, but everything else was unbearably dry.
Yeah i haven't even played it yet and don't think i will. They "X-Boxed" the series and now is infected with consolitis. Just like dues ex 2 , and people were up in arms over that. Yet we have fanboys (xbox fanboys and bioware fanboys) who will agree with every decision they make. People thought the inventroy and stats were a bit off in the first game but istead of tweaking them they just cut them out entirly, essentially dumbing down the game for the accessablity shooter crowd... Any rpg fan should be mad but you guys praise them. it's like no matter what they do they could do no wrong. I hope ME3 is a real time strategy game.... i bet the fans will still be saying "goty confirmed" ...lol. Jade empire was also a terrible game from them. Dragon Age was good, but not great. Their best games were back before the 360 came out. Baldur's gate 1 and 2, Neverwinter nights and Kotor. After they made jade empire and sold out to m$ they started removing rpg elements and became infected with consolitis.Bar that Sonic game of course.

Can you even pause the game and issue orders like you could in me1 on pc? From what i heard its just a third person shooter now.

The game was always on Xbox, so that conspiracy doesn't hold any water whatsoever.
AAA lovely game, my friend. It should be on PS3 sometime. I hope you get to experience its greatness, as everyone should. Don't want folks missing out.
Even if it was, and I really don't think it is, that's like mocking someone for getting a 90 and claiming it the lowest possible A.

As a huge fan of RPG's, specifially euro types (Larian, Piranha Bytes, etc), I got a sophisticated and streamlined RPG. One that doesn't keep you bogged down in tedious menus and such.

Absurd. If you think this, you've not been a fan of Bioware for long. Neverwinter Nights OC was far and away the worst RPG they've put out. This is acknowledged by most fans who have played their stuff from the beginning. IIRC, they even had to make an excuse for it, something like "we only put part of our effort into the OC but its main focus is a toolset."

I could care less if its on ps3 or not. PS3 is not my only gaming platform, I own me 1 on pc and have been a pc gamer my whole life, so its just I enjoy rpgs more then any genre and i also like shooters but taking out loot and stats in a game that should have them is just wrong. I love fps-rpg hybrids like stalker for the rpg living in a living world feel. The inventory system is what makes games like stalker and dues ex so great (along with the dialog). The fact that you can go into your inventory and use different guns, different gadgets, and use buffs to think and plan your next action and take on encounters in many different ways. It makes the game engaging and fun, stalker wouldn't be the same with out it so why is it ok for me2 to not have inventory and large selection of guns armors, buffs ect? That stuff removed from me2 seems just wrong... it makes it not a rpg. Again please someone tell me if they kept the rpg fighting engine where you can pause the game to issue commands or is it straight up shooter now.This. streamlined yes, sophisticated no. have the powers were USELESS, especially the biotics on higher difficulties. they were only useful when the enemy had no more shields and armor and that point you could just shoot the guy and kill him in a second. most heavy weapons were useless except the cain, tech powers were pretty bad also. the AI hacking was useless because you would hit them with it and they wouldnt help you (and it is supposed to) and the orb thing does nothing. lots of things in this game were useless or just were not needed because there were better options from the getgo. the weapons were also underwhelming, not enough of them and just not that fun to use. it has a good story and VERY good presentation (i love the artwork and surroundings), but the combat just feels so shallow and it seems like they added things in just to fluff it up.[QUOTE="ironman388"]This. Again how is it a rpg? Streamlined? By removing the feeling of making yourself more powerful without inventory and stats? Thats not streamlined that's genre changing. Menus aren't bad. Like i said removing inventory and cool gear eliminates your abiltiy to stratigize your next move. You can't apply buffs , you can't go in using a different route. Dialog alone does not a rpg make.Lirain, pirrahna bytes ect... all make great rpgs... with inventory systems and stats. These games are rpgs. You have inventory screens and character development screens and map screens. You can choose how you want to take on the encounter based off your gear at the time, the environment and the siteuation. The freedome to do that is what makes wrpgs great. Take that away and take out the by the numbers combat and implement a shooting interface and you are left with a third person shooter with dialog. It may still be a good tps but it doesn't sound like an rpg anymore and that is the point i am arguing about.
There are different attributes for every piece of armor you equip in ME 2.Again how is it a rpg? Streamlined? By removing the feeling of making yourself more powerful without inventory and stats? By worst you are talking relative to other Bioware games? Because I dont think that Bioware has ever released a "bad" game when compared to other developers. Bioware releases two types of games: epic and not-as-epic games. The only game that i didnt feel was as epic as the other Bioware games was Dragon Age. Even that game was pretty good i just feel that the fantasy rpg territory has been ran into the ground.Bar that Sonic game of course.
