this is taken from the site who reviewed ME already. this should help owners like my self who have a HDTV

http://www.videogametalk.com/review.php?ID=778&PHPSESSID=6321b2f1d84330526057636933a4ec46

"There is a downside to pushing the 360 to these limits though. The frame rate can slow to a chug during the large scale battles, especially with lots of talent powers flying around. It's enough to affect the gameplay and become annoying during a fight. It also can happen when you turn your character around too fast. The game pauses for a few seconds to load before you can continue. When you move too fast though an area or conversation, textures won't load quickly enough and you may be staring at a blur until it finishes. I also had problems with the rover land vehicle on planets and the last few levels. Specifically when taken off a steep jump, the front hull of the rover would become embedded in the ground and I couldn't move or exit the vehicle. I can't imagine it's designed to force reloading an old save, so it must be a problem with the hit detection system.

Interestingly, Bioware gives you the option to turn off the film grain and the motion blur effect. On a high definition display, the film grain really makes the image pop with realism. I found turning off the film grain brings out the flaws in the facial visuals, namely sections around the mouth and eyes that become spotty. Turning off the motion blur wasn't as big of a difference, but it will make the visuals appear more like a video game rather than a 23-hour science fiction movie. It does help the troubled framerate though."

the game should still be awesome, i was having real horribl framate issues with Oblivion, especially the last quest, but it didnt keep me from thinking the game is one of the best of all times. Mass Effect will be good, framerate issues means a couple of points of its score.

I've not played a Bioware game yet that gave me flawless framerates. I did not expect this to be the first.

some people say the grain looks stupid anyway... but dots around mouths ( i think he means crawling seem lines) isn't that great either...

Bioware is known for making games that use the most of what the console has to offer. framerate issues are standard with them...

yep. well, at least people can stop wondering if this game will get a 10. based on Gamespot's ideology (10 meaning a game can't be improved upon meaningfully in any way), it is not eligible for that rating.

9.0-9.5 am confirmed.

In my house, Bioware is God.

I can put up with a spotty framerate :).

SideNote: Strange...most people HATE the film-grain yet this guy seems to love it. :|

Wow that is a new one. I have never heard of a console game with graphic options. Bioware must have known those extra effects are pretty but not always necessary.

No, there was another game on the 360 with graphics options. I'm thinking that it was BioShock, but I'm not sure. Anyone else have a clue?

*edit - yeah it was BioShock with the graphics options, this article mentions it: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/bioshock/player_review.html?id=488954 , but it doesn't state what the option was.

i wish console games had the amount of option tweeking pc games do. there are plenty of things you can do to improve a bad framerate but on most console games you're just stuck with it

I don't know why you guys are just going to accept the framerate issues so easily. Shouldn't the devs fix the issues before releasing the game? Just because some of their past games also had some framerate issues, doesn't mean that they are allowed to let it slide once more. It makes more sense for them to improve upon their mistakes, then repeating them.

It is nice to see Bioware adding graphical options to tweak the game for better framerates, however, IMO, they should have fully optimized the game and exclude these features instead.

On the Two Worlds demo you can decrease or increase the HDR usage,it looked HORRIBLE either way :P. But kudos to BioWare for this(option of tweaking graphics for better framerate),still cant wait for the game.

People who have framerate issues in their games should try clearing out their cashe on the 360,

I found this very helpful in games like Bioshock when it gets realy cluncky,

works evertime!

On the dashboard, go to the System blade(purple)

Click on Memory

Press "Y".....It will then say "rename" "delete" Leave those alone. just press XX LB RB XX

A blade will appear from the right side asking if you want to do maintenance.....yes, you do.

That's it. The only thing you will notice is when you put a game in it may say it needs to be updated but that's no biggy.

Smash Bros. Melee had an option to turn off the anti-aliasing. Rogue Squadron 1 gave you the option to change the resolution if you had the expansion pack.

Yup, Oblivion had a shoddy framerate on both consoles, but it didn't ruin the experience. Every console game will have framerate drops at certain areas, but that doesn't mean it's so bad that it breaks a game. Looking at early reviews and hands-on time, the framerate drops are VERY minimal.

i never noticed any slow down at any point in oblivion and this is coming from someone who plays pc games with the fps shown in variance in the corner...so i can notice a drop easily. still never saw it with my experience of over 50 hours of oblivion

It's definitely there. Tons of framerate issues and pop-up. I stopped playing it on consoles and bought it for PC. Needless to say, I never looked back. Most people were able to look past the issues and enjoy the experience, but not I.

If anything, this is BETTER than Oblivions tyle FR issues. I could never be in a fight with anymore than three characters without it becoming a mess. In the larger battle scenes it was a pain. Seriously.

Also, the game loads for seconds on end almost constantly when you enter a new area for about thirty seconds. It happens with games leaning towards on open world, all of them, end of story.

The game will get a bigger knock if it has serious glitches.

Everyone anticipates glitches and FR issues in a game like this, but the question is: How much>

Yeah it does have some frame rate issues but despite some rough edges this game has amazing graphics. I played Gears last year when it was released and this game has had me more impressed by the graphics then it did by a large margin. It has texture pop-ins but no where near as bad as some people were claiming, it happens but rarely.

The frame rate does drop more often then I would like but it doesn't detract from the gameplay and I have not encounted a situation where I feel I have died or had trouble in a battle because of the frame rate. It detracts from the otherall look of the game and keeps the visals from being flawless because if it were not from these few rough edges the graphics would be near flawesss. As it is they are still much better then I expected to see from a console game this generation.
