Mass Effect killed KOTOR 3

I recently read that Bioware plans to make a full Trilogy of games for Mass Effect. They are all reported to be released for the 360 up until the new MS system is released next gen.

Because Bioware is obviously going to have a hard time accomplishing this and will be constantly busy working on the next two Mass Effects, I think it is pretty much safe to say that 360 owners won't ever see a followup to KOTOR 2. Even though Mass Effect is nothing short of amazing, I had very high hopes(and still do to a certain extent) that I would see KOTOR 3 released this gen. I would rate KOTOR 2 and Mass Effect about the same but I think the KOTOR series is more favored because I am a Star Wars nerd.

So we get two more Mass Effects but no more KOTORs; I don't know whether to cry or smile:cry::D

I do wish Bioware would make a true sequel as I would love to play a KOTOR with real time battles and light saber rattling.

The Star Wars Universe makes for great game settings at least the way KOTOR was done.

Obsidian made it, and although it was okay I agree, it died after the first one

Obsidian, they also made another sequel for Bioware, Neverwinter Nights 2 was made by them also.

Not sure if some of you know, or have just forgotten, but Bioware and Lucasarts have partnered for something. While it has been rumored constantly that there will be a KotOR MMO, I wouldn't completely rule out KotOR 3; a long shot, of course, but one can hope.

Actually LucasArts killed KOTOR 3. If you search around on the PC disk you can apparently (I don't have the PC version) find a bunch of cut content/references to cut content. Apparently LucasArts pressured Obsidian into releasing KOTOR 2 in time for the holiday season and in order to make the deadline Obsidian was forced to cut whole planets and important scenes from the game. That is why KOTOR 2 is so buggy and the story feels unfinished... it is. Check out www.team-gizka.org for more details.

I felt Obsidian did a decent job with Kotor2, gameplay vise it was already a lot better than the 1st and if they'd been given more time to really finish it it could had been great. But I doubt we'll see Kotor3 anytime soon, Kotor MMO maybe. IF Kotor3 would come to 360 exclusively that would be enough reason alone for me to get one. For now I'm just waiting for Dragon Age and a possible ME port for PC.EntwineX

I really liked KotOR 2. It just lacked development time, like you said.

I'm just hoping the partnership between Lucasarts and Bioware leads to KotOR 3 and a MMO. While I might not get the latter, it'd be interesting to see what they do with it. Though I doubt KotOR 3 would be 360 exclusive, it'd most likely be on PC as well.

KOTOR 2 is a damn good game. Anyway, Force Unleashed will be enough for me this year. I'm just glad there's no MMO KOTOR, that would completely ruin it. I'd rather wait a year for a real KOTOR 3 instead of that.V_Isle

Umm... there is a decent chance of a KotOR MMO. Not saying its going to happen, but a few things point in that direction.

Whoa! Do you have a link about Obsidian making an ALIEN RPG???? That sounds pretty interesting, considering how the movies have pretty much ruined them. :(

That would be forgivable for KOTOR2 that LucasArts killed it.. But they DID THE EXACT SAME DAMN THING WITH NWN2, the very next game they created was rushed, buggy as hell, and the most inoptemized game I have ever seen.

For ME2 they need to fix a crapload of technical problems and glitches before adding a bunch of new stuff.NavigatorsGhost

Epic need to fix the engine ;) its more epics fault :P the same faults are also seen in bioshock, gears and the PC version of UT as they all use the same damn engine.
