the problem with choosing dialogue is you cant have a really great storyline like seen in FFX cause you can only have a few absolute events since your choices effect the story

and the gameplay looks like a wannabe thrid person shooter

hopefully the RPG gameplay can match OUR THE FFX (goty 2001) and best game ever

I thought Halo was goty 2001 :P

and with choosing dialogue, you get more different storylines as opposed to the same old one ina linear game

It better NOT be a FFX, because I will hate it if it is.

How can you compare Mass effect and FFX, they're nothing alike except for they both fall under the broad heading of an 'RPG.'

IMO you cant even compare the 2 games. I like the fact that they are making a shooter RPG like this. It is really unique. where as all the FF games are exactly the same. The Idea where you control some of the events IMO will make the game have a lot more replay value, becuase if you might want to play it again and be like hey i wonder what will happen if i do this instead, where as FF you play it once and there is no reason to play it again. I would compare Mass Effect to Knights of the Old Republic.

Indeed, I'm huge on FF games, but FFX was not my cup of tea, its dialog was nothing special, it had graphics and music going for it, but little else.

Being able to choose dialogue does not make a games story bad.

There was a lot of dialogue in KOTOR and the story in that game was one of the best that I've ever played.

I think that if the Bioware guys have put in enough effort (which i believe they have) that even the interactive storyline can make a good, nay, excellent game. Everyone always cites Jade Empire as a flop i've played that game and can certify that it is a AAA game, but this is SW things will never change, and at the end of the day my opinion means nothing.

Well you can have great storyline in Mass Effect, just because the game is open ending with a dialog system like Mass Effect doesn't mean it will be lacking story. Infact I think it will help the story, because you can get into it. I love FFX, but KOTOR was alot better and Mass Effect looks to be better than FFX.

Saw the title and knew it was you: the guy who said the PS2 was better than the PC because of one freakin' game. >_>

Can't have a really greatstory if you're choosing dialogue and making choices?

Kotor?

Deus Ex?

Baldur's Gate?

>_>

"choosing dialogue" opens up a wide range of storytelling possiblities that garbage like FF can't even touch. Of course, it helps not to be a pre-teen.

I would hope not, 14 year old kids with spiked purple hair slipping on their own testosterone is not my idea of a fun videogame.

i did enjoy planescape torment, KOTOR, and KOTOR 2 and they have lots of choices in dialogue

mass effect looks like more JADE EMPIRE though dumbing down the RPG gameplay and probably more stupid story....

FFX: unfold a story, follow the story and then think...hmm that was a good story.

Mass Effect: Immerse yourself in a whole universe of characters. Ignore that character stood in abar knowing full well there is probably a whole 'story' behind him just being there. Know that you could go and talk to the character or pass right by and continue with your own story. Make your own unique story and most importantly, live that story in a living, moving universe full of stories!!

Both will be good but I know which one is the future of gaming.

FFX was a complete pile of trash. I hope Mass Effect can be better then 2001 Game Of The Year.
