Mass Effect - Mass Downgrade :(

what happened?

First shot looks like texture streaming pop-in (on the character model.)

Everything else looks great.

Haven't had time to publish any of them online yet though... Deadline for the print magazine has been brutal this month.

From the first couple of hours or so... Seems like these guys have taken screens for further into the game and looks like they're not playing the same build as I am. There are late builds with major problems.

The tool provided by MS to capture screens from a debugg is utter *censor* unfortunately. Most screens taken with it looks far worse than the game. I've seen the craziest *censor* appear in them that you never see on screen. The major problem usually is the colors than look washed out. But Mass Effect has the same problem as Knights of the Old Republic where it sometimes takes a second for the shaders and/or textures to load. That may account for some of the blurry stuff.

It's something that really comes out more in stills. The game looks fantastic in my opinion.

it is called texture loading delay

i think we all saw it on GOW took about 2 or 3 seconds to load the gorgeous textures of the character models

I'll wait till we get some Gamespot or IGN pics from the review code till I pass judgement. Until then, all that I know is that these are the worst screens of this game that I've ever seen.
