Now thats Mass Effect ONE. With all of its technical flaws and somewhat weak combat. Now Mass Effect 2? After noticing that the first one got THESE reviews. I really cant hype it below AAAA. Also, most of the user reviews give it a 10/10 here saying that it is a beautiful game, gorgeous graphics. And a wonderful story that is wonderfully produced/acted/and closed.

You people will never understand how much I love Mass Effect, but now you can acknowledge that it is in fact a WONDERFUL piece of gaming history.

I merely state that this game DESERVES higher than that 8.5 LIE it got from the reviewer. 9.2 AT LEEEEEEAST.

ME 1 is AAA here as well. And it doesn't even matter, use whatever scores you want. GS's opinion on games has been trash the last year year and a half anyway.

It was AAA on the PC.

8.5 was a perfect score for the first one. It had very few good sidequests and all the non-story planets were rehashed. You can't reward that laziness with a 9.0.Parasomniac

Ill stick by the 8.5 since the tec issues the game had on 360. It was the first version to come out and the version I played.Also the boring planets in the side missions. It was just a different color pallet each time and dirving that truck was crapy too. Its a good game,but it does have flaws that bug me and I hope are fixed in ME2.

After just finishing my third playthrough & reaching level 60 on the 360 version of Mass Effect, I have to say it deserves a high score for the potential alone. The whole ME universe & theme is amazing, I really enjoyed the story & the choices, as well as the characters & the interaction with them. I would give the 360 version a 9. With that said, there are serious frame rate issues, texture pop in problems, average combat & cover system (I can't help but compare it with gears, which is a dedicated shooter, & far superior), poor autosaves, very bad inventory system, very poor vehicle controls and an incredible amount of tedious, redundant content (Exploration. It could have been so much more). If you have the patience to dig through the boring parts there is a good 15-25 hours of amazing content, & I still gave ME a 9.

ME2 will have a steady 30 fps, improved combat, improved inventory system, improved vehicle, & more fleshed out worlds. That fixes 95% of the problems in ME. I'm hoping ME2 pulls an AC2; taking an awesome game & improving it tenfold, though ME2 does have less to improve upon.

Selected reviews can make any game, (except Big Rigs), seem amazing. Example, PSM3 gave Uncharted 21/20. Thats why there is compilation game scores like GameRankings.

What's with this AAA crap. The Witcher was rated only 8.5 on GS, yet it won more awards than any game i know, and many including myself consider it the best game ever made. So stop arguing about pointless things and just enjoy your games.

Its AA here but yeah, its AAA in most places and one of my favourite games.

That just about does it IMO. There really shouldn't be much of a debate.

The problem with using sites like Gamerankings or Metacritic is they accept any type of review sites and differrent websites have their own different Grading scale. Case in point, G4, a 3/5 game from them is a good game that has some serious flaws but is still playable. A 6/10 game doesn't get as much recognition here.

Now I loved the main quest line as much as the next guy, but those other planets were so boring that only their mother could love them. It deserved its 8.5 score.

It wasn't, at least not the 360 version. Side quest were very linear, they had the same exact layout, body animation was weak, there was not much at all to planet exploration, and it was very buggy. Mass Effect very much deserved it's 8.5.

But, this is a GS board, and we only use GS scores here. Plain and simple.

I agree. I'm not going to try to argue for the use of other sites' scores in this instance because I know that GameSpot is what counts arond here but in my opinion, Mass Effect deserved no less than a 9 and I say that after close to 5 complete playthroughs of the game.
