BioWare (accidentally?) announced today the title of the second volume in the Mass Effect series of novels, confirming also that there will be a sequel to the Xbox 360 exclusive.

Del-Rey Books and author Drew Karpyshyn have announced the title of the second volume in the Mass Effect series of novels: Mass Effect: Ascension. Set between the first and second game, the novel will arrive in Summer 2008.

When EA acquired BioWare, the future of the Mass Effect trilogy was in peril, but with the developer now confirming that there will be a second game, we are pretty sure the companies involved have come to an agreement.

Not yet, but if the latest EGM is right, MS will publish the next two ME games, and EA and Bioware will be listed as the devlopers. Once that's official, then the cows can cry.

Wow talk about selective reading, LOL.

They never announced anything more then the possible title to the second game. So all that this rumor "confirms" is that the second ME is in the making, big surprise and what its title might be. Aside from that they never said what system it will be on or its exclusivity just that the poster of this news interprets the naming slip to mean that a second game could be in the making. Even he does infer to its exclusivity.

So sorry the only person that should "cry" is you for being a sad fanboy.

I am fairly certain that a trilogy was written in stone from the start.

They announced a book, which in turn confirmed what we already know; the series is a trilogy. And I'm curious as to where they said anywhere that it will be a 360 exclusive.

Just out of curiousity has EA ever let any other company publish its games. I know it publishes other companies games but does EA actually let other companies pusblish its games?

Yes, we're crying for a game riddled with glitches and PS2-like environments.

I rented it over the weekend and though I didn't get very far into it, I thought it was kind of meh. It's still a good game but atleast what I played of it didn't live up to all the hype I've heard about it.

where does it say its exclusive? i hope it is, I like to see a game start to finish loyal to one system. but knowing EA that seems a bit far-fetched.

Even if ME2 does go to PS3 it'll need the first game to port over their characters like the 360 can.

I can't wait to play all 3 only on the 360. But I can't wait to play KOTOR 3 only on the 360 more.

ah reversecycology you grow tiresome, what do you have against the PS3? supposedly you own one.... but you act like it murdered your family and stole you favorite watch in the same night.... dont you get tired of being angry? try and be mellow toward both systems, like me :) ( i try but people like you push my patience)

Nice to know the name of the sequel, but I don't think it says anything about it being exclusive... I just hope they iron out the technical issues and fix the AI and clumsy combat. If so, this could be oen of my favorite series of all time :D.

It confirms that there will be sequel to Mass Effect and that there will be a second book. I think you misread the sentence. It says "it confirms there will be a sequel to the Xbox 360 exclusive", it does not say that the sequel will be exclusive.

Considering it's better or equal to every single PS3 exclusive, you should be.
