Well, I don't own a 360 yet. I plan on buying one for Mass Effect June 5th when the game comes out. I love BioWare I think they are making the best RPGs since the turn of the century. I know Square would probably win a poll on "which dev. is better" but I really haven't enjoyed FF 8-12. Some were better but to me personally the older ones were better. Whatever though.

POLL

Which (currently) console exclusive RPG will be better? Mass Effect is a trilogy so there will be three more. And given BioWare's history with creating new and original RPGs like Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Republic (A KOTOR 3 would really please me LucasArts!) it is my favorite to win Game of the Year this year. Didn't KOTOR and JE win those in there respective years too? I know KOTOR did.

Well which RPG will be a better RPG?

Mass Effect

OR

Final Fantasy 13

Well Mass Effect looks to be shaping up as one GREAT game all around. Also I love all the rpg games that Bioware does. Neverwinter Nights, Baldurs gate and all the rest

Well since you don't go into Gamestops we're (and have been) reserving it for June 5th for $5 down and have been promoting it in our marketing since late last fall.

Thats the release date as of now.

In august it got pushed from April to May, then later to June 5th.

Its almost here.

Comparing WRPGs with JRPGs is kind of like comparing bananas and peaches. Both taste really really good, and it'd be really hard to decide which one you want to eat. >_> Anyway, its a game with diverging plot lines, good character development, and pretty space graphics compared to a relatively linear game story wise with questionable character development (Speaking about previous FF games), great graphics, and who knows what kind of combat system.

I think Mass Effect will be better but this surprises me a little.

but i voted for ME because its a new and fresh type of game, alot of content, alot of replay value ( Live ),

and FFXIII will be the same as always, RPG, random fights, some bosses, finish the game / end

I guess you haven't visted FF world recently. FF XII has no randomly generated battles, it doesn't use ATB system anymore, which seems to be the case for FFXIII as well. FF rarely have identical gameplay. They always tweak it somehow whether it is battle system or magic system and always tries to evolve the traditional RPG element that fans love. Which is why I like FF franchise. I am RPG fan and they try their best to keep RPG genre alive instead of making it side thing on shooter, beat-em-up, or hack-n-slash genre. When I want RPG, I want RPG not a shooter with RPG elements.

They'll both be amazing and they're completely different. If I was to base it off how I felt about KOTOR vs FFX, KOTOR was great but I liked FFX a bit more. On the other hand, Mass Effect seems to have some big improvements in the gameplay over KOTOR as far as character interaction goes, so I'm pretty excited about it.

Why? Because Final Fantasy XIII has magic? (probably) Or is it because Mass effect uses more metal and looks more rusty than FFXIII? I just think FFXIII is different perspective on future compared to Mass Effect, and personally I like clean future look instead of dirty rusty looking future.

What makes Mass Effect a RPG and not a 3rd person shooter?
From the vidoes thats the only action. You behind one guy who shots people. To me thats not a rpg at all.

FF13 ain't sci-fi nor is it set in future, yes it has those trains and "futurstic" soldiers things but so did FF7 have, the shinra soldiers were prety futuristic looking, and the airships in FF12? in FF8... FF has always been a mix between futuristic things, medieval and current time.

Mass Effect has aliens, a lot of different planets, and it has a more scifi atmosphere surrounding it. Other then FFXIII being in the future the technology is advanced and there is a hovering country hovering above another one.

but they are making it worse these past couple years. The battle system and sphere grid was the best things that have been in final fantasy, they should have stuck with em

For me, it's Mass Effect all the way. The main reason being, it creates a more immersive role playing experience by offering me choices from beginning to end. The main thing being is in that game I am MY OWN character, whereas with FF, I am playing somebody else's preconceived character. I have to follow someone else's direction in how my character behaves and responds in the various events. You are always the noble hero, not that there's anything wrong with that :)

Now don't get me wrong, because in all regards I give high praise to Sakaguchi's writing. He really know how to weave epic tales and create compelling human drama with intricate relations between the cast of characters. But after playing KOTOR, I am spoiled for having total freedom of choosing my path to be good, evil, or any shade of gray in between. If I want to be a chivalrous savior, I can be. If I want to be a brutal dictator, I can be. I can even choose to be both - galant to the innocent, ruthless against the wicked. I get to choose my responses to situations (dialog options) to be cunning or sincere. In some ways BioWare makes the GTA of RPGs, with the freedom to play the kind of person YOU want to be.

And don't even get me started on total customization of my characters other features and attributes - skills, powers, abilities, that lets me tailor my playing style, whether I want to be direct assualt warrior, or rely on stealth and guile. In so many aspects, the Bioware gives me freedom and choice I can't get from FF, and I can fully expect Mass Effect to up the ante of all this on the next gen platform.

yea, bioware rpgs have stomped all over ff when it comes to making your own choices, customization of character and stuff like that

It's not bioware rpgs over FF, its WRPG over JRPGS... The majority of JRPG games makes you follow the path you are designed to do, you don't chose I'll kill him or not.

After playing FFX-2 I got sick of JPRG's.

Mass Effect is going to rule.
