how? number xii was way different than any of the previous one. XIII also has a different battlesystem and hell the versus one is action rpg and the characters where believable outfits not some wacky techno **** although they still have the metro hair.

That's just my opinion. Final Fantasy has come a long way and we'll see if it can continue it's greatness. The thing about Mass Effect though isitis unique. I haven't seen many futuristic RPG's out there.

We'll see. Personally, I'm getting tired of FF, but it uses a tried-and true formula.

Mass Effect, on the other hand, is doing something radical, but we're still a little uncertain as to how it will end up.
