Before I start, Im not a fanboy, dont have any next gen consoles(even though my next door neighbour has a 360 and I play that with him quite often) and havent even decided which console to get yet so you cant pull out the fanboy card on me at all.

Alright, Mass Effect has some amazing faces. Like the detail and stuff on them is amazing. Blew me away. A little better than MGS4(which I think has the second best faces graphically) when it comes to faces.

The whole choosing your dialogue and being able to cut the other person off and get different reactions and all that sounds amazing.

The story sounds like it is actually good(no offense but thats kinda rare for a 360 game:P)

Now, even though the graphics are technically good, I think artistically they are just okay. Like even though the graphics are good, the environments we have seen just dont make them look good. Maybe they tried to choose balnd environments so 360 could handle the graphics technically or maybe thats just how they truly envisioned the game.

The gameplay, other than the dialogue system looks kinda bland. LIke, the combat system was very mediocre. The whole pinning the enemy on the cieling thing was cool but still ther est of it was bland.

The whole car thing looks pretty bad. I mean look how boring it must be to shoot from that and it jumps to avoid rockets and stuff? What the hell. And for some reason the water looked pretty bad when we were in the car.

And these worlds, are they like the ones we saw in the demo or are they real worlds? I mean these worlds, are they just a building or two surrounded by the same evironment but diferent buildings or do some of them actually have a city and stuff?

Also, wtf was up with that gamespot guy saying awesome on every little thing. OMGZORZ THE CAR JUMPS AWEZOMZ:P

So I think the game is prolly gonna deliver when it comes down to technical graphics and storyline but if the gameplay and environemnts is like what he have seen, it will be pretty medicore in those areas.

The Texture maps in Mass Effect are really its biggest shortcoming, some are really awful...

as for gameplay, i never played Kotor, but im sure someone who has could answer your question

i hope its a good title so i can play something on my 360

Is the KOTOR gameplay similar to that of Mass Effects? Is it coincidence or fate that I am picking KOTOR from the bargain bin up today? :P

If the gameplay is anything like KOTOR, I'm passing on it.

I'm sick of people saying the gameplay looks mediocre. Perhaps you haven't seen the best demonstration of the gameplay? IMO, this is the best video available:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/85951.html

You see:
- the dialog system
- the party system
- the RPG system
- the combat
- the map
- the Makko
- a bit of the team control

Where does the combat go wrong after watching that video? It looks like a GRAW or a GeoW. To have an RPG combat system be (IMO) comparable to today's top action games is beyond phenominal, especially when you compare it to the traditional, dull, and arguably boring combat systems typically found in RPGs.

About the environments, no. Just no. I disagree with this so much so that I don't even know where to begin with a counter argument. The game features a large variety of environments, all of which have a ton of variety and beauty behind them.

A gorgeous ship interior, looking like something straight out of a Star Wars or Star Trek...

An almost "depressing" vacation location...

An exotic dancer club of some sort...

A Mars-like planet...

The epically-scaled inner-rings of the Citadel...

Under water station...

Need I continue with the gorgeous variety?

Lucky you. Being my favorite game of all time, I still haven't gotten around to buying it. :(

Anyway, to answer your question: in some ways. KOTOR features an MMO-ish combat system or perhaps something closer to FFXII, where as Mass Effect is closer to a GRAW or GeoW. Aside from the combat system, the games are fairly similar. You gain party members, and you can gain/lose party members based on your critical choices. You have a feat-sty|e of RPG system in which you gain points to put into different feats which unlocks new abilities and what-not. You can customize your party member's skills with the same system. The dialog is very similar, although Mass Effect (being a next-gen improvement) obviously improves the system with text sum-ups, interruption, and the ability to ignore characters. There are other similarities, but the major differences are in the combat systems.

I can't really help you then. I think the art direction is some of the best this generation, right next to Bioshock. It captures the fundementals behind sci-fi, but it also adds in it's own sty|e making it both original and easy to relate.

About the combat, could you point out where they go wrong? Aside from the powers and the ability to enter a Full Spectrum Warrior-like interface of control, I honestly don't see the difference between Mass Effect and GRAW. It even has a roadie run, ala Gears.

So being able to run fast makes a game fun? No it doesnt. I dunno, the battle system kinda reminds me of socom and I HATED those games.
