I'm surprised the Bioshock franchise isn't on your list as one of the main choices, it's already produced two of the most critically acclaimed games of this generation.

Gears of War failed to advance or mature beyond the original concept, so I can't vote for it. Assassin's Creed is very intriguing but ultimately a little too repetitive for my tastes.

I'm very torn between Uncharted and Mass Effect, which are my two favorite franchises of this generation (old or new). I'm going to split my vote both ways.

[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="cain006"]I played through them twice and the second time I realized I didn't really have much say over what was going on, but I thought it was still pretty fun. For ME, the first time was awesome, second time alright. Mass Effect 2 was disappointing the first time and bad the second. I think they're still pretty good though.

Oh and what about STALKER? That's a pretty good new series.

Advid-Gamer

Pretty much. I'd rather play the original again, to be honest. Mass Effect 2 is just flat-out bad. I have't played STALKER, so i can't comment.

Yep, no doubt about it, because darklink said so. Get a new hobby

No, because unlike so many people, I'm wasn't blinded by the hype and the illusion of choice. I can actually see the game for what it is. So, no, I think I'll keep gaming. Excuse me if I have standards. Besides, I wasn't talking to you, dumbass.

I like dead space and dragon age. And Demons/Dark Souls

Borderlands is good too, can't wait for 2. Man there's been a lot.

I'll go with Dead Space. I love it.

Mass Effect is brilliant.

I don't think zelda and mario lovers would agree. Thats obvious

Assassins Creed, Uncharted, Little Big Planet are my favourites too.
And the Dead Space Universe is fantastic.. eg. Comics, Animated Comics, Movie, Books... Same as Assassins Creed to.

Developers going the extra mile, love it.

First of all that's not physics, second of all

metacritic

ME2-96>UC3-92

http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-360/mass-effect-2

http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/uncharted-3-drakes-deception

So it only got 4 better than a crap game?? That says everything you need to know about mass effect 2. 4 percentage points more than crap.

Yes obviously Uncharted is the best series this gen.-themajormayor

Crap game huh?

1 mediocre game in an amazing series? In other words 67% perfection and 33% mediocreness. Compare this to Mass Effect 2 which at least is 50% pure crappiness. But apparently the first game is even worse so that makes it a 100% crappy series. Same with Assassin's Creed series although the first and second game had potential. But really I would say Portal or Demon's Souls series if that is allowed. Cause that's 2 100% amazing series(not including Dark Souls in the Demon's Souls series)

After completing the 1st ME a few times I would say hell yes, best new IP in a decade perhaps :o but after ME2 :? I'm gonna have to say Gears wins as of now until I play through ME3 a few times - fingers, toes & eyes crossed hoping Bioware melds the best of 1&2 into a phenom RPG where I can say Mass Effect is the best new IP since HALO !! :P

If illusion of choice was the only flaw it still would have been a pretty decent game. Too bad it's a mess and quite the crap game actually.

A serie has to have more than 1 title and look promising enough to be continued.

With that in mind I voted Assassins's Creed but I had more fun with Batman: Arkham ...

Also the Dark Souls/Demon games are amazingly good IMO.

It's worth mentioning that Borderlands & Alan Wake are recieveing a second chapter and the first ones were completely amazing :)

BOT, I think Assassin's creed takes the cake.

But this is a yearly title with new stuff every year, at least they are trying to achieve the "perfect" formula, or it looks that way.

Also Dead Space is a really nice serie :)

Mass Effect is absolutely garbage, minus the voice acting which is absolutely superb.

ME story was a terrible, the ending in both games are two of the worst I've ever been through.

The controls are god awful, even on PC. The TPS gameplay is completed bland and nearly archaic.

ME1 had so many faults its ridiculous. I remember saying a youtube video where it took 28 seconds to load textures, the PC version from my experience wasn't any better. Every time I gambled the game would crash. It even crashed on other occassions too.

ME2 fixed those problems for the most part, but stripped the RPG elements in the process. Both bad.

Uncharted is the best new series hands down! Best exclusive game this gen, period. All the others you listed are pretty good though, and the runner up on that list would be Mass Effect, but if I would have voted other than it would have been the Batman Arkham games. That'sa new series, and it's a damn good one too.

Yes, lets listen to a person who is in love with a series that let you have no character roleplaying interaction, no interaction in the story and no effect on the story degrade a game that does all that.... His opinion is not biased at all.

Can't really pick one, since different series do different things better than all the othres. For me...

Uncharted... just great fun, excellent humor, and superb delivery on all fronts.

Portal... again, excellent humor, fun puzzles, creative and mind-twisting at the same time.

Bioshock... fun, excellent story telling techniques, and fun powers. Also, apart from plasmids, the idea of a morality-free utopia is kind of plausible.

Assassin's Creed... I haven't really enjoyed the games since the second one, but they are definitely immersive and beautiful. I love the historical setting.

Resistance... great games, though the last one sucked. I like the alternate history idea.

Heavy Rain... this is a one-of-a-kind game. I absolutely loved it. I don't think I'd want more than a couple more games like it, but it was an excellent experience.

LittleBigPlanet... one of my favorite games this generation. Unparrallelled creative options and excellent co-op.

ModNation Racers... same with the creative options for racers, and the gameplay is just excellent. The evolution of kart racers finally happened.

MAG... shows what can be done with a talented team. If there is a sequel, I imagine it will be amazing.

That's all I got for now. Some of these games aren't part of a series, but I think you meant IPs.

Is that in ME1? Cause I haven't played it.. Yes I do. Uncharted for example is in a whole different league. Yes they do. Both genders of Shepard for example sound really monotonous. I didn't mean robotic with alot of cyber effects to the voice. Just monotonous and lame.

ME2.....It's in ME2. And if you want to talk about motion depth in ME1 look up the I remember me mission in ME1. And again your confusing body language with voice acting. Uncharated has great body language with their character while ME character need that to be improved. The voice acting is still fantastic for ME. I would say ME and UC voice acting is equal. UC just has the better body language. As for Shepard, they have to be closer to Monotone. It's because it an rpg where the player has control of the main characters character growth. Putting a distinct characteristic in the main character in a roleplaging game kills player controlled character development and character role playing.

I'll put Gears for now, since I'm worried how ME3 will turn out (whether or not the MP's just awful). Surprised it's not getting that much love considering that it defined the genre this gen.

Or maybe it is good and you just don't like it....

No the series is pretty awful. It is polished mediocrity.

I'll put Gears for now, since I'm worried how ME3 will turn out (whether or not the MP's just awful). Surprised it's not getting that much love considering that it defined the genre this gen. moose_knuckler
Dragon Age II happened, now everyone hates Mass Effect. Work it out, not many of us have yet.

[QUOTE="themajormayor"][QUOTE="dreman999"] Tali crying when her father dies sounds robotic? I don't think you know what good voice acting is...No one sounds flat. They make act robotic from time to time but the only one that sounds robotic is Legiondreman999

I remember vaguely. He was like a general or judge or something. Ehm no I am not talking about animation. The voice acting is still superior. But I guess you have a point with not putting a distinct charcteristic in a RPG on the player controlled character. Mass Effect 2 though isn't really an RPG though.

What makes it all the more confusing is that Dragon Age and Mass Effect are created by completely different teams within BioWare. Still... it's amusing to watch.

It's tough to follow this when seeing ME with a comfortable lead.
