JRPG vs WRPG, who will be the victor? Which will score higher? Which well sell more? Let's discuss this before their release and let's see which of us is the wisest

if they made a asian specific version of ME2 to compete in asia and have it covered on both fronts, then that would win. As John Shepard can be easily made into any ethnicity or gender, instead of using the default char in screens just have a japanese character modeler redesign a set template for region specific version with different screens.JRPG vs WRPG, who will be the victor? and of course make John shepard asian, that's assuming bioware can let go of the fact that somehow white males like 99.9% of all western games are the only race nad gender capable of being protagonists. Atleast the japanese don't have the same hang up in this regard and come off alot more progressive than western devs.
The Final Fantasy brand has been around a very long time and is on both the 360 and PS3, so you would think that it would do better in sales - or will it? This may indeed be the deciding factor of that age old argument, which is better JRPGs or WRPGs. Or will the ratings be the decider?
ME2 because of the gameplay & replayability, but if FF XIII has a great story, then I don't know which I'll preffer. Already pre-ordered ME2 though, holding out on FF XIII until a collectors edition is announced.
If you guess from my answer JPRG's especially ffx13 have inroads into mass audiences in the west while ME2 is virtually none existant and not known at all in Japan, I don't know about the rest of asia, but from my trip there most asians even in SE Asia don't give a crap about WRPG's compared to JRPG games.
This translates into lower global sales obviously for ME2, unless they penetrate the asian market it's going to lose for sure against ffx13. Like I said, only leverage ME2 has if they decided to penetrate the asian market is to redesign style and characters to appeal to asian gamers so they'll get hoooked on to WRPG's which in turn will lead to higher global sales. Imo that's the only way...
What doesn't look horrible from upcoming 2010 games to you? Both look horrible, but..
FF13 will sell more, ME2 will score higher.

If only Square Enix and Bioware had developers capable of pulling off such feats
True wisdom would probably be the most silent, and play what it enjoys regardless. I go with Mass Effect 2 because I hate turn based combat and characters like the ones I've seen in FF gamesJRPG vs WRPG, who will be the victor? Which will score higher? Which well sell more? Where do those games even exist? TC, ME2 hands down.Right, in your opinion. Neither game has yet to be released in the states, so unless you perhaps secured an import copy it's ridiculous to jump to such assumptions, especially in such a declarative fashion.I care not for sales nor scores, Mass Effect 2 will be better :P

They should hire me, I could totally program something like that! Funny when someone who is 17 argues new games suck, and games that pre-date him are so much better then games these days..I'm getting them both, so it doesn't really matter to me. FF XIII scored well at Famitsu. --- http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=229112 I'm thinking Mass Effect 2 will definitely score 9.0 or higher. Both games are going to be great and that's all that matters.JRPG vs WRPG, who will be the victor? Which will score higher? Which well sell more? I don't have a long list because it's very earily in the year but here are some:
Spectral Force Genesis
Hexyz Force
Cla$$ of Heroes 2
Etrian Odyssey 3
Those are ones that I can think of off the top of my head, here are some that I want to be localized (it's cheaper of they are for me):
Wizardry: Seimei no Setsu
Elminage 2
Yeah, those are some, the majority of my purchases will be older games though.
On GS they'll probably score the same.
On Metacritic, ME2 will probably score slightly higher.
In sales there's really no contest, FFXIII should sell significantly more.
I dont get the big deal about WRPGs:? They have like no dynamic characterization while JRPGs like FF13 are filled with it. Take Fallout 3 for example. You have no drama or great presentation. JRPGs have much better storylines and much better presentation. JRPGs actually play like........RPGs. Mass Effect 2 feels like a shooter. Mass Effect 2 is awesome, but I have no doubt that FF13 will be the better game. I will admit JRPGs besides FF13 have been lacking compared to previous gens, but they'll get better. I have high hope for FF13 and FFV13, not to mention KH3, a soon to be PS3 exclusive;) The only good WRPGs I played this gen is the Mass Effect series and Fallout 3. However I played several great JRPGs like Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Lost Odssey, etc. All these JRPGs engross you with their awesome stories and addictive gameplay. Mass Effect 2 has good story but bad delivery and presentation, plus its technically a sci fi shooter. JRPGs all the way
