[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"] That is true. I can't explain why the 360 did so bad over there.BrunoBRS

Who knows, even when MS gave them what they liked the Japanese just didn't latch on to it. MS pretty much ignores Japan now.

3 or 4 exclusive games don't warrant a whole new system, i guess.

I agree with that as well. It is the reason I don't own a Wii or 360. Wii only has 5 exclusives that interest me and the 360 only has three.

Oh my god. 18k? Are you serious? Its literally tanking! Wow, and solid numbers for the 3DS considering its riding well off holiday software. I expect the 3DS to settle at a consistent 40k to 50k plus once things calm down, but at this rate it may not. If the 3DS can move at least 400k a month in EU/NA, and it looks like it can move at least 300k, maybe 400k per month in Japan than we're looking at 1.0 million to 1.2 million worldwide per month. The 3DS is shaping up to hit 16 million by the end of march, and will likely hit 14 million this month. My guess is the 3DS sells 15 million units during 2012 as a whole, and lands at 27-30 million units lifetime by the end of 2012. Wow, the Vita doesn't stand a chance. The PSP had a shot because it was mostly neck and neck with the original DS for a long time, but this. This is "shift your game development to other platforms" type of sales unless the Vita can do something dramatic to change the tide in 2012, and we all know that won't and can't be a price drop.

ease off the venom and lighten up, buddy. realise that you're the one who's been trying to put spin on how bad the Vita's been doing, not once now, but twice, because you used the 360's sales figures which we all know suck in Japan anyway.

It's what they liked, and hell just 1 exclusive warrants a console in Japan.

Tales of Vesperia was exclusive back then, Eternal Sonata too, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon (worst of the bunch, but this is Japan).

If my math is correct , the Playstation Family beat the Microsoft Family by over 47 times this week. Seems like it is a lot , but I'm not sure.

Why is this thing not out in other regions yet?

Sony is only hurting themselves by waiting, from what I can tell time is making hype die down, not build up.

I am not trying to put a spin on anything. Vita sales are bad. Saying 360 also suck in Japan is spinning anything. It is a fact. God damn lemmings sure are stupid as fuk today aren't they. Get your head out your ass. I am not spinning anything. Vita is doing bad in Japan just like the 360. What i was getting at seeing you are too slow to pick up on it on your own was. If you are going to say the Vita is dead based just off Japan numbers alone, then you have to apply that same logic to the 360. You fanboys sure love to try and put words in peoples mouths don't you. [QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]Sony's going to have a significantly harder time bringing those numbers up than Nintendo did with the 3DS -- they have no software as powerful as Mario, Mario Kart or Pokemon. They also can't reduce the price as easily as Nintendo could. Good luck to Sony, wouldn't want to see it die -- we need another handheld, competition is a good thing.

Sony is done imo The end is near

As long as 3DS succeeds, then Nintendo should be fine with the Wii U. Whether or not the Wii U wins the next generation, I'm sure it wii be a very profitable system for Nintendo. They learned a lot from the 3DS and I'm very proud of them. As for the vita, I am not interested in it because its TOO expensive. Those memory card prices are ridiculous. At this point, I am hoping that microsoft enters the handheld race, I'm sure things would be much interesting.

Mehh. All i have to say is give it time. I bet there's a ton of people over there that dont event know about the PSVita or what its capable of. It doesnt have any games the Japanese are interested in. The 3DS has been out for a long time now, its much cheaper, and has just about everything a nintendo fan would want. So ofcourse its going to get all the attention.

This is why I think Sony should have gone with the Xperia Play design. A little more modest, but it would have been cheaper, and probably gone over better with the Japanese public.

if you weren't trying to put a positive spin on the Vita's poor sales, why bring up 360 sales figures in the first place?

what you don't understand is the significance of the Japanese market for Sony. it's like not recognising the significance of the American market to the Xbox brand

I'm pretty excited for the Wii U; not so much for either handheld yet.

That said you can potentially miss out no matter what systems you buy. You could miss out even if you own everything just due to time restraints.

Just get the two systems that look the best whether they be from the same company or not.

How is it TOO expensive?? Considering whats packed into the Vita, its priced just right. If anything, its actually cheap. I remember when portable CD players would cost 80 bucks! A godd digital camera cost around 300. That only takes pictures and records vids! Smartphones cost up to 700 bucks now. Yet people gladly pay for all this stuff. I just dontunderstand gamers logic.

I am enjoying this topic and I agree with a lot of the things being said here today. I think sony is in trouble too basically because of the high price this system is at. Price is s0o0o0 important when it comes to the handheld market.

I was able to fnd out for myself. I guess it is true.

http://myona.com/2011/08/13/a-60-loss-per-ps-vita-sold-for-sony-analyst/

This is funny as hell then since Sony can not even do a price drop. Even a $50 price drop would mean $110 loss on each Vita. The PSVita is so doomed. Sony can not drop the price and the small about the do sell only costs Sony more money.

but indeed, goes to show that without the money Sony made with the PS2, the PS3 would not have gotten far..

And people called it overprized

it was. it was still 600 bucks for a system with no games. it's not the consumer's fault if sony made something insanely expensive when they could have achieved the same result more cheaply, and much more consumer-appealing.

"overpriced" is related to cost/benefit for the consumer, not with factory costs. the cost was too high and benefit was too low for the consumer, when compared with the other options in the market, thus the PS3 was overpriced.

Who wants to purchase expensive blu-ray players and movies, in a time when the next gen video format had not been decided yet as well as the HD TV market penetration was low.

[QUOTE="themajormayor"] And people called it overprizedthemajormayor

it was. it was still 600 bucks for a system with no games. it's not the consumer's fault if sony made something insanely expensive when they could have achieved the same result more cheaply, and much more consumer-appealing.

"overpriced" is related to cost/benefit for the consumer, not with factory costs. the cost was too high and benefit was too low for the consumer, when compared with the other options in the market, thus the PS3 was overpriced.

No it wasn't. Top notch bluray player, best console by far and no paying for online making it cheaper in the end! People are just stupid

keep in mind we're talking about the launch in 2006. no games, no one had an HDTV, blu-ray was expensive as f*** and almost no one supported it.

This is Japanese sales! Japanese sales=/= world. Why are we talking about Japanes sales and not worldwide sales? Japanese people are biased. Sales don't matter anymore. I can't play sales. Why do people post these sales threads? Wait none of these have been spammed endlessly by cows in this thread like they do page after page in NPD threads??!?!?! I wonder why? :)

Lol, Japan is so insignificant in terms of total numbers. Just look at how little of an impact Japan has on sales compared to the USA or Europe. They're just a tiny spot on the map that make up a small fraction of sales. I'll hold out on claiming the Vita is dead until I see it fail in the USA or Europe where sales are actually significant.

Japan accounts for more than a third of global software and hardware revenue, and is a major determinant in terms of third party support for a system.

Out of the 100 million Wii units sold, 10 million came from Japan. I call that insignificant.

Are you sure thats right? That would make it a bigger market than the whole of Europe combined and almost on a par with the US? :?

Lol, no, he's not right.

94 million Wii sold - 12 million of them were sold in Japan 13%

64 million 360s sold - 1.5 million of them were sold in Japan A measly 2%

61 million PS3s sold - 7.7 million of them were sold in Japan 13%

15 million 3DS sold - 4.6 million of them were sold in Japan 31% (this one will change because the system hasn't been around long and had exclusivity to Japan for a long time before being released in USA or Europe)

Keep in mind that the Wii, PS3 and 3DS had a major head start in Japan being released many months earlier than other regions.

Japan sales are insignificant when you look at the big picture. Japan doesn't dictate if a product fails, the wallets of Europeans and Americans are what matters. I'll wait until Vita releases in Europe and USA before I make any bold claims like "IT FAILED"!!
