Sales don't matter anymore. I can't play sales. Why do people post these sales threads? Wait none of these have been spammed endlessly by cows in this thread like they do page after page in NPD threads??!?!?! I wonder why? :)blue_hazy_basic
Although, the NPD =/= world people are annoying as well.
I don't think I've ever seen non-alts/noobs translate Japanese sales into global sales. Rather the vast majority of SW pretends Japan is largely insignificant.

Granted I haven't been around much recently, but last time someone said that I challenged them to find 2 instances in a 25 page thread on NPD of people saying that and no one did. If NPD is in the title everyone knows its US sales. Even if a couple of people don't or try to use it as WW they are outweighed at least 20 fold by people typing the nonsense aboveGranted I haven't been around much recently, but last time someone said that I challenged them to find 2 instances in a 25 page thread on NPD of people saying that and no one did. I'm saying that people are far more likely to take and have taken more often, NPD figures as indicative of global sales and performance, while Media Create figures are, for all intents and purposes, never taken for granted as representative, making such comment even more redundant.
There is more basis, while still redundant, to make such comment about NPD numbers, than Media Create numbers.
You asked why no one ever makes such comment in these threads. That is why.
The problem for Sony in the US and Europe is 1. a bad economy 2. strength of the yen vs the dollar and esp the euro 3. do people in the west care enough about handhelds still for another one to launch with smartphones, tablets like ipad and ipod and other products all competing for the same essiential market? I do have a feeling that it will struggle.[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"][QUOTE="arkephonic"]
So one would only assume that the Vita would do significantly better in Europe and USA than it would in Japan based simply on the fact that the current launch library consists of games that appeal to western gamers more than they do eastern gamers. It's really no surprise that the thing is bombing in Japan, there aren't even any games out for it that they like over there. The Vita was totally built from the ground up to have a successful launch in an area like Europe or the USA based on the launch lineup, which is probably not a bad idea because like I said, that's where the majority of the sales come from, not from Japan.
arkephonic
That's true. I'm not proclaiming to have a crystal ball and the ability to see into the future, but I'm just saying, hold off on saying the device is "dead" until it releases in EU and US, the more impactful regions in terms of sales.
I have a 3DS and I love the thing, and I'm not even 100% sure if I'm going to buy a Vita, so it's not like I'm blindly supporting the device here, I'm just using pure logic here. Hell, I bet when it is all said and done, the 3DS will sell twice as much as the Vita, but that doesn't mean the Vita is going to die or is going to fail.
People are just overreacting, that's all.
I couldn't agree more with everything you just said, so few posters that think logically.
Anyways, thanks Charizard for posting the Media Create sales and wish you would stick around more often, posting news, more sales like you used too (unless you posting somewhere else :O)
The PS Vita's fate will rely on EU, AU and NA. It's that simple.
So what the Vita has done is split the PSP numbers in two, and the rest have been killed off by 3DS and indecision.
Jeez. Sony must be looking for a way to fix this. The PSV looks like a beautiful piece of hardware, it's just too much money.

Great point. People seems to forget that the PSP is still going pretty strong in Japan. PSV and PSP are cannibalizing each others' sales.
Case in point: Growlanser and Suikoden Sequel announced for PSP.

It was even worse for 3DS vs NDS.

Not really since you could play DS games on the 3DS so in the long run it was better to buy a 3DS and have the entire DS library as well as the future 3DS library. The Vita on the other hand is going up against the PSP simply because you can't normally play PSP games on the Vita (You can't do it easily or for free). Basically buyers are put in a situation were they either buy a Vita and essentially lose the PSP library (Unless they buy the game and pay additional costs to transfer it) or buy the PSP and have access to it's large library normally. Using UMD's in the PSP has to be one of the worst decisions Sony or any of the big 3 has made in quite a while, it's still haunting them even into the next generation of handhelds.

Well yes, the PSP is selling stronger than the Vita. Of course the games such as Super Robot Wars cater to the Japanese, but why isn't it out for the PSV? It would have helped sales of the Vita. Why release new hardware if they're profiting and selling more of the old hardware?
Vita need a trademark JRPG or a very well known exclusive to boost sales.....its games are really on western perspective its horrible start of it

Both are just slightly upgraded ports. I don't think they'll do much for sales of the system.
The Vita needs a unique, exclusive, super-popular RPG on its system to help bolster sales.
Like Monster Hunter...but the 3DS already has that IP covered.
"Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin II - Revelation of Evil God" lol at the title of this game. What the f*ck?Stevo_the_gamer
It's a super robot wars game, its dealing with the OG mecha, and then it has subtexts. I'm not familiar with the story workings but there are some pretty godly mecha in the series (solar system destroying strong.)

At least it's not as bad as the name of this Japanese game:
Do you know what that title means in English?
It means "White Princess the Second ~ Love Adventure in the School That Follows the Principle of Convenience, Where It's Okay to Stray From the Path or Stay on the Path."
Yeah...that title is normal by comparison.

Is this remake from the snes version? The name is not that stupid if you actually know the history of the game.

Yeah I didn't make the image, it's from a collection of CDs with various mecha theme songs. GaoGaiGar is my favorite anime, but I guess Exkaiser was easier to get for the CD.

Now you just need the chick in the maid costume and the chick with cat ears and a tail, and the token male for balance.
And then you'd have a nice Japanese cast!

[QUOTE="CajunShooter"]So all their tactics have been to go after Sony, but in the process piss off all the early adopters 2 times? It was an oversight on their part. Why do they still lack any kind of an online that can compete with anything Microsoft and Sony offers? Is that also just being used as a tactic? Another example how "You would think Nintendo would have learned" But clearly they haven't. i don't know. Judging from their success with the wii, ds, and now 3ds, they probably don't think they need to work on a great online network for their hardware. It's a shame really.[QUOTE="Furbyballistik"]It has been 7 years. You would think nintendo wouldve learned this before releasing the 3ds. They didnt announce their second pad til aftet the vita was announced. I'd say it was more of a tactic against sony.Furbyballistik
clearly you two havent played 3ds online which is really fluid, easy to use and alot more social
judging the wiiu online before it even comes out is really lame tbh
Here are my 2 cents :
- first of all, Japan, a single country having 10% of total hardware sales for something is quite huge, you are comparing sales between a country and a whole continent
- Sony could afford losing more than whatever loses for each PS Vita, if that attracts more hardware sells -> more developers will become interested in developing for Vita -> a lot more dev-kits, test-kits and licenses would sell. Do you know how much a dev-kit cost ? A few tens of times more than its manufacturing cost, if I remember correctly, a DS dev-kit was about 4000$ and it was considered one of the most affordable (here is some more info : http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=14693&highlight=NDS+Dev+kits)
- Vita is an incredible piece of hardware, but it needs games and it needs advertising to show to the ignorant masses just how much power and features it has, otherwise, an auto-3d screen, which is something you can see right out of the box, regardless of the dated hardware inside the 3DS will make more people buy it rather than some state of the art internals which aren't obvious to the non tech-savvy public
