Looking into it more, I was mistaken. Switch is not sold out in Japan anymore. It's still not readily available in Japan, though. Even so, this is a legitimate win for PS4. It'll fall to Switch levels or lower next week though.

You're jumping the gun a bit there. Switch still seems to be beating PS4 in the US, and MHW is literally the only PS4 game selling well. When MHW goes, it'll take PS4 with it. Meanwhile, Switch has nowhere to go but up.

Switch sales are not bad IMO. Console is neck to neck with the PS4 with any big game to support it while MH is clearly helping the PS.

wow cows actually praying for ps4 to win japan. i don't think it's going to happen.

monster delivered the goods. incredibly well. like amazingly well.

however every weeks the sales get lower and lower. before monster hunter ps4 was selling about 29k/30k a week with the pro combined.
right now it is at 49k/50k. so it is still 20k more than usual.

let's see what kind of sales MH keeps getting.

MH close to passing splatoon 2. I am sure pokemon will beat both though. gamefreak better deliver.

so 20k combined for bayonetta 2. that is fine for a port of a game no one ever cared about in japan. it will do much better in the states. but it was never expected to be a big seller. more of just something to play in february. bayo 3 will sell much better. but still might not reach a million. it is a niche game afterall.

That's incredible considering the first year is the slowest sales year of any console. The Switch is currently on pace to hit or beat PS2 sales numbers.

Then it's a hardcore niche game. I keep telling people that casual games sell the most. Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, and 2D Mario sell way more than Zelda, Metroid, Star Fox, and F Zero. It's the way it has always been. This is why I don't get why others are saying that Metroid Prime 4 will impact sells. It's also why I laugh when they beg for F Zero. The best selling F Zero game was on the SNES selling at 2.85 million copies. Even Zelda on the SNES outsold that one. Though Nintendo should waste resources developing for this game. LMAO!

Japan already has Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest & Monster Hunter. I don't think any future games will really push hardware anymore, it'll just keep the hardware sales as more and more people want to jump in and play those games and many more.

Next big Switch game is Kirby, which has a release date (it's a multi-million seller, so yes it counts even though people like you act like only Mario and Zelda count).

Both editions of Bayonetta combine for North of 20k sales, putting it just under DW9. Also, Nintendo actually had a moderately decent run in Japan with the Wiiu. So, this isn't like comparing it to how it bombed in the US. Switch sales are more likely to be re-buys over there.

I don't really see the bad news here. PS4 is running strong with Monster Hunter and WiiU ports will not carry a platform over that nor should you honestly expect it to, in Japan.

Kirby isn't in the same Tier as Mario or Zelda though.

Looking on Goggle at Kirby game sales they've not broken the 1.8 million sold mark since 2010.... and that includes console and hand held releases.

BoTW as of October last year had sold over 4.7 million on Switch alone.

Kirby falls in to the same category as Arms and Splatoon...... they have their fan base but are not the system sellers people make them out to be.

People went out and bought a Switch just to play BoTW, people wen't out and bought a Switch just to play Odyssey....... they are system sellers in every sense of the word.

If Kirby is Switch's next big release then Nintendo have some serious work to do to ensure Switch maintains its sales pace as it's not good enough.
