sure, but they ONLY had to successfully emulate the style. They didn't have to do anything else except for think of a few bosses. And new levels, weapons, and extra content like playable characters, changable costumes (not just the powerups) and a leaderboard for speedruns.

Hmm, it's a solid Megaman game and it does well in giving you that nostalgic feeling of Megaman 2 (Which was freaking awesome). But there are other downloadable games that do way better (namely World of Goo).

I actually prefer Megaman 9 to World of Goo personally. But they are both AAA IMO.

I'm not hating on the game by any means and would highly recommend it actually, it just isn't as "special" as some make it out to be.
Megaman 9 is one incredible game, no doubt about that. Never have I felt such accomplishment in completing a game as I did after MM9. It definitely makes you work hard for it. I don't have the patience left to try topping it with Proto Man though. Scrapping by with helmeted Megaman was difficult enough, nearly destroyed a controller in the process of that one. Greatest gem of the gen though? Maybe downloadable but overall, i don't think so.
