Megan Fox, who plays Mikaela Banes in the Tranformers series of movies, will visit Xbox LIVE® to play Xbox LIVE® Gold Members in TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN THE GAME on August 29.

If you're an Xbox LIVE Gold Member (if not, upgrade now!), and you want a chance to play with Megan Fox, send a friend request to the following Gamertag and be online half an hour before (5:30 P.M. ET) the Game with Fame session starts on Saturday, August 29, 6:00 P.M. ET. If you receive an invite to play, enjoy your Game with Fame!

Although this promotion seems separate, Microsoft have been doing this for a couple of years under the moniker "Game with Fame" They have guys like 50 Cent to Killswitch Engage.

I never understood why people make a big deal about her thumbs. It is not like they are all messed up and mutant looking they are just slightly big. The girl is darn fine looking. I mean look at that pic and her hands seem pretty normal to me. And before you pull up that one pic where her thumb looks weird you can find weird pics for anyone. .

Just about every marketing firm uses celebrities to promote their product. Cereal, soda, hygiene products. This is normal. So, I don't understand why you are annoyed by this particular promotion.

Yes it does. And in any case I wouldn't really want to play a crappy game with some bimbo who propably hates every minute of it. But throw in Schumacher playing Forza3, GT5 or F1 2010 and it might get interesting.

I could see it fun for many people playing against celebrities. They have had all kinds from rock, movies, rock and so on. As for myself I would not care. I would have more fun trying to beat developers in their own game for example playing Cliffie B. in Gears or Bungie at Halo would be fun. Someone that does enjoy the game Transformers i could easily see them getting a kick out of playing against one of the movie stars or a fan of Rock Band enjoying playing against a real band like how Green Day did.

"They" would be whoever is trying to promote their product with celebs.
And sure there's something wrong with it. First of all a celebrity does'nt make a product better and second of all it works.
If you don't find that just a bit sad then you've grown too cynical.

MS didn't announce the news other than listing it on their community calendar or displaying it on the Events section of the dashboard. It was the gaming blogs that picked up on it and decided to create a whole article for it just because it's Megan Fox.
Given that
XBL has that largest, most active online community
MS has a very specific venue for this type of thing
Knowledge of the event is on or near the surface of ALL Xbox dashboards, making it very easy to create buzz for it
...it's no wonder that the PR people for the game or movie easily picked up on it.
