They say it's still speculation... I'm holding out on this one based on sheer hope. I know Kojima needs time to make the game incredible, but it's only natural to want to have my cake and eat it, too.

There's a lot to keep me busy on my PS3, still more to keep me busy on my 360, but none of that's Metal Gear.

I've been flamed many a times for saying it won't be out until '08, with release dates from July to November of this year quoted by various cows.

So true, people forget that not only PS3 games have been delayed, so have Wii and 360 games.  I think SW has affected many peoples mentality, they forgot that games release dates are determined by the devs and are delayed often for various reasons ranging from, picking the perfect time to launch to polishing up the game.

Maybe because not many games are hyped as heavily as system savers as MGS and FF. Cows are forever telling us wait for MGS to come out for a huge boom in sales (the same way they said it for VF5 and MS but then when sales continued to drop rather than increase claimed they'd never said any such thing). Halo 3 has been delayed big time, but there have been other games to fill the void and the console continues to out sell the PS3 (and continues to get basted by the Wii with no games lol) and so the Lems aren't as desperate.

I never once expected MGS4 in 2007.

However that's not to say MGS4 couldn't make a nov/dec '07 release,but it seems very unlikely. 

It wouldn't really bother me personally. I will have a full plate.

Upcoming exclusives - Lair , Warhawk , Heavenly Sword , LBP download , Ratchet and Clank Future , and possibly Uncharted Drake's Fortune this year plus I have Resistance to get to this year because I don't have a ps3 yet.. Throw in Ninja Gaiden Sigma to that mix too :D

Other games - GTA IV , DMC4 , Assassins Creed , Stranglehold , etc. They will make cows very happy and they will all help push ps3 hardware regardless of them being on other platforms. Especially GTA IV.

 If anything , it just makes ps3's possible exclusive 2008 lineup unbelievably strong. Imagine Eight Days , Killzone , White Night Story , Tekken 6 , MGS4 , FFXIII , Resistance 2 , Wipeout , Wardevil (2 systems sellers in that group) and who knows what else will be ready ? Actually the 360 doesnt outsell the PS3 worldwide, only in NA.  Using the latest NPD for NA and Japan in March the PS3 outsold the 360 by 60k.  Thats not even counting Europe which is far from a huge 360 purchaser.

I am not gonna comment on what fanboys claim but the truth is the PS3 does not need "saving".  It is selling fine, especially when you look at what is available software wise and thats nill.  PS3 fans are just waiting for a hot sequel to their favorite game, not a savior just like 360 has been hyping Halo and Forza for ever.  The PS3s top games so far are the new IPs Motorstorm and Resistance.  They are good but everyone loves a sequel with a fanbase. 

What you forget is the 360 is outselling the PS3 only in NA and only by a small margin.  And then when you look at the fact that the 360 has a years worth of games and its biggest game since Halo on an MS console (GEOW), and it only beats out the PS3 by a little in its home base is far from astonishing. 

There are plenty of other hyped games come out this year like Drakes, R&C, HS and others.  MGS and FF are not meant to save the PS3 because what made the PS2 successful was variety.  That is the same thing that will make the PS3 great.  Not the dependence on one or two games or genres.
