Metal Gear And Why It Should Go Multiplatform

Just a month ago I would have cursed the name of anyone who dared to say that Metal Gear Should come to the 360. I didn't like the series but it was one of the few glimmers of hope left for my beloved Sony. However, now, I believe that the series should go multiplatform.

I, AA7, was for a very long time one of the few people on the earth who honestly HATED the Metal Gear Solid series . I HATED it. The camera angle pissed me off, the Looooooong cut scenes pissed me off and I hated Snakes Arrogant character.
 
But all of that has changed. After putting in some quality time with MGS: The Twin Snakes for the GameCube, I am now deeply in love with the series. I love the camera angles, I love the Looooooong cut scenes and Snake is one of my new favourite characters.

This series is too good to be missed.

So basically the conclusion that I am coming to is this: Share the greatness.
 
This series is fantastic and no gamer should be deprived the joy of playing it.

Why not allow the series that gamers praise and love to be praised and loved by all?

All it took for me to fall head-over-heels for Metal Gear was the demo for the PC version of MGS1. Bam! I was hooked. I played that demo over and over, and almost cried with happiness when I found a used copy of Twin Snakes in a store a week later.

I don't think it should go multiplatform at this point, though: It's already been developed so much for PS3 that a port would probably mean delays and compromises, and I don't want that. If MGS5 (I'm looking at you, Sakurai!) wants to go multiplat from the get-go, I'm fine with that. 

I think the poll choices are better biased. If Ms can keep Gears, why shouldn't PS3 be able to keep MGS? It's reality, you want MGS buy a ps3 because thats the only way you are going to get it.jyoung312

Does anyone really believe that? Hideo said the EXACT same thing after MGS2.

in this forum(SW), they want all PS3 exclusives to go multiplatform but want all X360 exclusive to remain exclusive. seriously, the Sony hate is just too much.

Dont be stupid. We all know that the 360 is capable of handeling it. Have you seen Gears? Mass Effect? Alan Wake?

I loved MGS 3!  It blew me away, and was one of the best games I ever played on PS2.  I don't think I'll be able to justify shelling out $600 on a console anytime soon, but I could convince myself to throw $400 at a new console sometime in the foreseeable.  So I really do hope they publish a 360 version of MGS 4.

 I don't care at all about exclusives, and wouldn't mind if they went away entirely, the way it is in PC-land.  That's because the deciding factor would be the balance of price, performance and features.  The PS3 obviously wins for performance and features, and even for overall value, but its price is prohibitive, and its library is weak.  That makes 360, with its worse cost-to-features ratio but much lower price very appealing, and its library is strongest among the three new systems. 

So because it's insane for me even to consider buying both PS3 and 360, and because MGS 4 definitely isn't exciting enough, on its own, to me to make up for 360's advantages, I definitely hope they make MGS 4 for 360.  I wouldn't care if Mass Effect made it to the PS3, or if Halo did.  Why do people get all caught up in this kind of thing?  I buy consoles to play great games.  I don't care who made them, or about having exclusive access to them.  Being a console owner doesn't make you part of some super-secret clan or something; it means you were a consumer successfully attracted to a manufacturer's product.  What was it that attracted you?  Was it the promise of access to great software?  Or was it the promise of exclusive access to great software?  Because it doesn't bother me at all knowing that somebody else, using different hardware, is able to have the same game experience I did.  Why should it?

I wouldn't care if Gears went multiplat, and neither, I think, would a vast majority of 360 owners (though the most vocal types who post here probably wouldn't be pleased.)  But the actual reason why Gears won't appear elsewhere is because its development and marketing were funded by Microsoft.  Epic doesn't belong to MS, but that particular game won't be published elsewhere.

And why would it ruin things for you PS3 users?  Did Substance on XBox ruin the game experience for PS2 Sons of Liberty players?  Maybe that's a bad example; the hardware relationship was opposite in that case.  Well, what about RE4?  Did the PS2 port of RE4 ruin the game experience for GameCube users?

PS2 are dirt cheap now, you should definalty pick one up, there are so many great games. I bet you could find a used PS2 for the price of a new 360 or PS3 game.

Let the first and second party games showcase the attributes of the system while all gamers have a chance to experience the greatness of third party devs. Now for those in the Sony camp that are uneasy about my statement and are worried, you should be...Sony built its foundations on third party games and once those gems are gone, the PS3 would be left with only a handful of popular titles but nothing spectacular to carry the console.

GoW, Socom, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly cannot carry a console by itself....fact!

Since the growing trend of third party devs going multiplat, I dont consider any title exclusive unless Ninty, Sony, or MS publishes them. All companies are interested in making a profit this gen plain and simple. The ideal of console "loyalty" is a illusion to fanboys because they happen to own the console of choice that generation. Devs provide full support to the leader of the console race, and simply support the other systems...The Sony fanboys either dont remember or are too young to understand that Nintendo once had the overwelming dev support with NES and SNES....ultimately they lost it with the N64 and it went to Sony.

Morel of the story, THIRD PARTY DEVS DO NOT BELONG TO SONY, so stop with all of the mindless post talking about "you want our games" when they have nothing to do with Sony at all!!! MGS may or may not go multiplat, but I would think the fanboys would have had enough of putting their foot in their mouths about games that were supposely exclusive to the PS3....

If you are a manticore you probably want it to remain exclusive to the ps3 for 2 reasons. Let Kojima productions take advantage of the ps3 and concentrate on making it great and to have it on the ps3 only will protect your investment in the PS3.

If you are a ps3 owner only , this game needs to be on the ps3 to assure the systems greatness and appeal to both manitocres and playstation fans alike.
