Metal Gear is overrated

It's true. Metal Gear is mostly text and pictures with pretty graphics. It's not even a real stealth game. It's more like a, oh $h*T, I'm going through this area and I don't want to have to fight these bad guys again so I'm going to hide in a box.Palax

I agree with you. MGS series is way too many cutscenes telling a story that seems like a over the top soap opera.

And cows say Halo is over rated. I'll take Halo any day, and judging by the scores, most critics agree.

Out of all the big franchises out there, MGS is theonly one I'd consider underrated.

MGS has an epic story and awesome gameplay along with great graphics. And the box is insane :D

Halo is overrated, just like how RE4 is overrated. I can do this too you know, but I just let it be because all it does is make me look stupid.

Books exist to read Einstein. Video games are there to play. In the case of Metal Gear you have to read more than you play.

i like the series a lot, except for MGS 3 (i know, i know) - didn't like the camo and healing system.

and RE4 is not overrated. you're entitled to your opinion...you're wrong, of course, but you're entitled to your opinion :P

i think metal gear solid 2 is one of the best games ever made, followed by mgs 3, and 1 is the worst.Krudus

and WTF man!?!?!?! Metal Gear Solid is awesome sauce and easily better than MGS2. MGS2 has you skating around on freezing bombs before they can explode at the threat of a rather creative character, Fatman. If that wasn't creative enough for ya they got a dude named Vamp and guess what? *whispers* "he's a vampire!".

In MGSX you fought cool bosses like Vulcan Raven, Sniper Wolf awesome sniper fight, Psycho Mantis

Question: have you played the game? and I don't mean five minutes and you died because you're bad at the game. it has many long cutscenes, true. but there's this thing called the X button you can press to skip them and get on with the gameplay. the series has many weapons you can fool around with: grenades, rockets, mines, sniper rifles, ect. you get a lot of freedom with how you play the game. you are not forced into stealth if you don't like sneaking. you can wip out your machine gun and mow all the bad guys down if you want to.

seeing as MGS2 came out in 2001, it fully deserved it's praise. some games even today fail to have unique hit zone locations on enemies.

to recap: you can skip the cutscenes, so I don't see the story as something you can complain about.
