People who say there's too much story should taken into account the fact that the experience is far larger than a film. Think about it a lord of the rings movie last for about 3 hours. Metal gear solid is about 40-50 hours i think. Metal gear solid 2 isn't at all convoluted its just has a helluva lot there, which makes sense. If you just play it and concentrate you'll get it a lot easier. I was baffled as i hadn't played metal gear solid 1. I played metal gear solid 1 and then 2 and it just made 2 all that much better. There's no way any metal gear would work as a movie

MGS3's story is more emotional. After the fight with The Boss I cried and its the only game that managed to do that to me.
You're right, but MGS2 had its share, and it was more complicated. It was something that made you think, something like you would find in a novel or long movie. I prefer it to MGS3's, which was more simple but still good.  Â

MGS2 was one of the best games ever in my opinion. The story was great, even if some people are too impatient for long cutscenes and codec calls. acviper123
i hate people who play down MGS for its long cut-scenes. They always "forget" that theres a freaking SKIP button for you to use...
love all the dudes with halo avatars saying MGS2 isnt even close to being one of the best. the game is one of the best of all time, was crazy how you find out raiden was a soldier as a kid and now hes a freakin ninja in part 4
Please. Thief and Thief 2 smack MGS silly. There's simply no comparison - Thief had better stealth gameplay, and wasn't constantly taking the player out of character for some silly cutscene.
