Scenes like the end of Act 3 with Ocelot taking control of the System or the Microwave scene until the very ending... Those are moments that will echo through video game history.

no they wont..daveg1Yes they will. Raiden also had a bunch of truly memorable scenes. MGS4 is probably the best game I've ever played in regards of memorable moments. My jaw droped soooo many times.
That's probably how I'd feel if I just started gaming this generation, but that's not the case. Raiden's scenes were somewhat painful and touching, but the rest was hardcore boring.

yes they were great but echo through gaming history lol..daveg1Okay, maybe my wording wasn't the best. But the point remains the same. MGS4 managed to produce some of the most memorable gaming scenes of all time.

Yes but so do all the other 3 MGS games. Psycho Mantis from MGS, then Vamp in MGS 2, and my personal favorite The End in MGS 3 it was an hour long sniper boss battle which was more epic then shooting aliens in Crysis lol.

Ive been gamming since the NES and i thought there were plenty of memorable moments in MGS4. It is one of my favorite games. I dont see how long you've been playing games would make a good game bad, unless of course it just isnt your kind of game, which seems to be the case for you.

Is that fair?[QUOTE="daveg1"]yes they were great but echo through gaming history lol..daveg1
It was in-engine, why wouldn't it be?Yes, the scene at the end of act 3 was mindblowing, but it's a pity it was not in-engine (if it was it would mean that PS3 is reaaally powerful).

If I remember correctly, MGS4 did win the 08 game of the year award for Most Memorable Moment (Microwave).

Yeah, the scene doesn't appear to be in-engine like most of the others. I remember that my black vest on Snaked suddenly went default brown during that scene which would indicate that it was pre-rendered.
Games in the future that may dethrone MGS4 in my opinion are God Of War 3 and The Last Guardian.Swift_Boss_AThe Last Guardian, maybe. But GOW3 just won't have those moments of 'epicness'. Sure, great gameplay but I don't see it topping MGS4 when it comes to having memorable moments.

That was like the only scene that wasnt in engine. Hence why you cant move the camera with the dpad.
Edit: MGS4 has gone down as one of my favorite games of all time. I wasnt trying to troll or anything by saying it wasnt in engine.

yea they were good... sure. only problem is that mgs4 is a video game not a movie. mgs3 had just the right amount of cutscenes imo and they were great. after playing 3 i remember thinking... ok cool kojima went alittle crazy with the cutscenes here but its alright it won't always be like this. but mgs4 starves the player of gameplay. what is there is great... but the player practically becomes desperate to get back in to it while watching countless eternal cutscenes.
mgs4 should have been titled "mgs the movie with some gameplay once in awhile"
maybe kojima should do movies from now on.
:o Your MASSIVE spoilers killed the game for me :x
Now I don't want to play MGS4 ever!!!!
Way to go TC. Now this person doesn't want to play one of the best games on the PS3! Are you happy now?[QUOTE="daveg1"]no they wont..Eddie-VedderYes they will. My jaw droped soooo many times. i had enough "truly memorable scenes" from raiden in MGS2, my jaw droped many times when he did naked flips, as i asked my self WHY!
Lets hope so!
Seeing as how GOW3 will tell the final tale of Kratos I can see it ending with a bang! Im sure Sony will pack enough epic moments to end the trilogy with.Swift_Boss_A

I don't know, I love when Ocelot unveiled Outer Heaven and Snake was just sitting there completely powerless.raiden vs vamp in act 2 was the best cut scene of the game.
SilverChimera
That was awesome.
Even though it wasn't a cut scene, when Snake walks to Shadow Moses and the music starts playing...that was just awesome.
It had good moments but overall I was very disappointed with it. Cut scenes were WAYYYY too long and rambled too much.. Just repeating the same preachy stuff over and over and over. The bosses were better than those in MGS3 but were still very lazy. "! I'm tired of feeling ! I don't want to anymore! I'm scared.... I'M SO SCARED" Every boss ends in the same way and they try to compensate by giving you some lame backstory...
i skip most of the cutscenes when i play through the game now lol, i pretty much only watch the end of act 3,4 and 5, and skip all the B&B death scenes :PIt had good moments but overall I was very disappointed with it. Heh... Good idea :D Must be annoying that there's no way to skip the chapter installs though huh? ;)
STALKER had more epic moments imo (ones that were caused and controlled by the player :o )
Nothing makes you feel like a bad ass more than taking out an entire military camp with nothing but a broken AK-47 and a couple of med kits.
Oh and holding the blockade against the Monolith. That's awesome too
