They're completely different games. If Ubi hadn't gone with the "shaking things up a bit" and made every level in Double Agent like the first, it would have been the best stealth action game ever made. Sadly they chose not to, and the resulting "shaking things up" resulted in boringness.
MGS has never let me down. Again though; completely different games. They really shouldn't be compared.

I suppose now would be a good time to think that since Sam's now going to be put in a crowded civilian setting. Comparable more to Hitman, methinks?Again though; completely different games. They really shouldn't be compared.

Ok, yeah I think in recent iterations of the splinter cell franchise, quality has gone down and so I agree MGS4 looks most likely to be the better game.
But do you really need to put /thread? I'm askming as the TC did seem to simply offer a comparison. As it happens, I am very intrigued by splinter cell and the direction it is going. If it can capture the quality of the first, introduce some new gameplay mechanics and implement them well....then maybe they could pull off a better game than MGS4. However, that is quite a challenge.
Basically, if MGS4 get AAA and SC gets low AA, then I'll accept your /thread...fair?
There nothing alike Splinter cell is ALLA stealth MGS is action with stealthy parts

Conviction will be another Ubisoft game that sounds great in theory and has some good ideas but in the end its going to be another half-assed installment from an average series. Ubisoft does not deliver.NavigatorsGhosthahahha funny thing thats how they all are MG all the way!!!!
Neither. Both are overrated series.Aljosa23
'nuff said. If i had to pick, i would say SC, but i can't stand to play it more than a couple hours.

and you think the people saying MGS4 are any different? I bet most of them haven't even tried a SC game. And even if they didn't they wouldn't want to admit that it's better than a ps3 exclusive game.

I have played SC and i have to say its good and all but I like MGS better

true. all i really wanted to do was to sneak around in the night. "if its not broken, don't break it." chaos theory was my fav, double agent was a good game, but they didn't need to make significant changes in the first place.
mgs and splinter cell are different games and i have always liked both, but in the past i have gone to splinter cell for the better sneaking around gameplay. however, mgs stories can't be beaten so its impossible for me to choose between the two.
now to really get back on topic. i think mgs4 will be better that conviction, but not by much.
