If you consider that metal gear solid sold 6.6 million and metal gear solid 2 sold 7 million copies, this is obviously a very high selling franchise. What I am wondering is if there are only 4.32 million PS3 consoles sold, why would Konami put such an investment as they are into MGS4 if they weren't planning on going cross platform. MGS4 could sell more copies than there actually are of PS3 consoles. I have a very sneaking suspicion that this game is going to go to 360.

Gears of war has already sold nearly 4 million copies itself just since around November of last year, and there is no way the PS3 is going to sell many more consoles between now and next year considering all the negative press it is recieving, just things to consider.

Even MGS3 sold nearly 4 million copies, and even if it didn't sell that well, that is just more incentive to go crossplatform, it proves that cows aren't as interested in the franchise anymore.

Perhaps that 7 million and 6.6 million are cross platform as well. MGS was on PC, and MGS2 was on teh Xbox..

mgs was never a system seller imo, it beneifited from GTA, Madden, and other games selling the ps2 so that the console had a massive amount of people ready to buy their game. Right now the ps3 basically has no platform game this holiday season(for instance none of the great franchises are coming out this holiday, GT5, MGS4, FF, Killzone are all not coming this year) to push holiday sales so i think MGS4 is going to sell well but its going to be hurt by the relatively low number of PS3 install base.

Yeah because only cows played MGS games. Read your last sentence and try and see why it is so idiotic.

Sony probably has a deal with Konami that pays enough to make up that loss of sales.
