So an English dub of the first Ground Zeroes trailer (originally shown in Japanese last year) was shown at TGS. And it features Kiefer as Big Boss. You will notice that he manages to sound even worse than Hayter.

Seems like Kojima has taken a lot of steps to ensure MGSV follows MGS4's legacy of ruining a once-great series.

What a horrendous delivery of a classic line.

Where are the Hayter haters now?

Hayter voice was great especially in MGS 1&2. i admit he started to overplay the voice in the following games once he took the voice of Big Boss. As for Kiefer voice of Big Boss, it doesn't fit really the background conversation between him and Kaz was hard to make who is who. Seriously though Hayter is in this game as Solid Snake which he might introduce in the final cutscene when Big Boss takes command of Fox and rename it to Foxhound.

Honestly, Hayter was not a very good actor imo and consequently not a very good voice actor. I did enjoy his roles as snake and big boss in MGS1-4.

This is seriously the only reason why I see they chose to change the voice of an Iconic game character.

I'm hoping this game is the ground works for the original Metal Gear games.

Hayter only did Solid Snake voice in MGS4. Big Boss voice was done by Richard Doyle. Hayter voiced Big Boss in MGS3, PO & PW.

Why do people keep saying this? Solid will be a child in this game. Do you really think a 12 year old will have the raspy voice of a 45 year old man?

Seriously did you watch the video?

Keifer is in his mid 40's. Big Boss is around 50 during MGS5.

Hayter is also in his mid 40's. Solid will be 12.

Are you thick?

In my post I said Solid Snake will be introduced at the end of the game when Big Boss returns to take command of Fox and rename it to Foxhound, I'm just throwing out what I believe will be the end of the game where Big Boss will give the code name of Solid Snake to the young soldier who with be in early 20's which I think Hayter can give the voice of a young Snake like he did in MGS1. MGS5 is set in 1984 11 years before the events that took place in MG1, so we are getting closer to the events that lead to Solid Snake becoming a hero and Big Boss downfall.

Yeah, I don't like it.

Just like I knew I would, it's nowhere near as bad as Blacklist but it's still quite an unwelcome departure.

I believe he is in his 12 year in this game, but when did Big Boss go back and take command of Fox? I don't know, and the introduction of Solid Snake could be close to the events of MG1 where Solid is a grown man. Just throwing out theories my friend no talking facts just my opinion on what might happen.

Kiefer sounds fine. Plus he can do a wide range of emotions, not just monotone raspy voice like Hayer.

He sounded pretty monotone here. It was seriously hard to distinguish his voice from Kaz's. And the way he said "Kept you waiting, huh" was completely rushed, as if he was mumbling from a script and not putting himself into the character's shoes.

They gotta get a few drinks in him, let him listen to some old Hayter VO's then we might see some magic.

yes, I believe this could be Liquid, But I just think Solid will be introduced at the end of the game in a minor scene ( like there is a short cutscene in MGS)

He does and he wakes up in 1984 which means Big Boss went into a comma in 1975 after the Peace Walker events. Ground Zero looks like the prolouge and Phantom Pain starts where Big Boss wakes up in the hospital.

metal gear has always been very influenced by its creator's fan loyalty: the box art for the original nes game being a copy of a frame from the terminator, snake insisting his name was pliskin in sons of liberty. kojima probably just got bored of hayter; the guyver was a long time ago.

he is just more into 24 rebrodcasts these days.

His voice is just way too cartoonie/anime although I admire Hayters passion for voicing Snake I've never really been a fan of his voice. The only game he did great was in MGS1 for the PS1 and some parts of MGS2.

Kiefer will do a much better job.

MGS1 is my favorite game of all time, however the Metal Gear series died with MGS4 for me. It ended beautifully with everyone's story wrapped.

I hated Peace Walker. It was an unnecessary spin-off to an already complete story. Everything that needed to be said (the link between MGS3 and MG1) was already said in Portable Ops, which while having inferior gameplay, had much better characters and story. And it seems with every new installment, more and more things get retconned.

Metal Gear Rising is also just some spin-off which I refuse to factor into the main canon. While the gameplay was fun, Raiden's story ended perfectly in MGS4, no need to frak it up by him going back to war.

Kiefer Sutherland is the final indication that this series is no longer for me. Kojima doesn't really see the problem because they're keeping his favorite Japanese VA, which he has always considered the "true" Snake. David Hayter's voice was unique, I've no interest in generic Jack Bauer.

Kojima should have ended things on a high note, not milk it to the ground. Move on man, do something original

Personally, i think it was unique and memorable, it wasn't bad, it was a little over the top, in a good way. I love cheesy over the top shit done in a good way, so maybe that's why i really liked Hayter.

I wonder if we will see Snake as a pre-teen in the game:-)

[QUOTE="mems_1224"]Kiefer sounds fine. Plus he can do a wide range of emotions, not just monotone raspy voice like Hayer. princeofshapeir
He sounded pretty monotone here. It was seriously hard to distinguish his voice from Kaz's. And the way he said "Kept you waiting, huh" was completely rushed, as if he was mumbling from a script and not putting himself into the character's shoes.

It's not his fault the japanese talk fast. Gotta keep up with that lip sync brah. He sounds perfectly fine to me. Very close to Hayter, actually.

I didn't like hayter in mgs4 at all so i was happy when i heard they replaced him but i have to say it doesn't seem like kiefer's voice matches the face at all. I don't think it will bother me though. Still wish they include the japanese audio, not a fan of dubs.

Sounds even worse hearing it for a second time.

Doesn't matter what the reason may be, you don't just change a VA that has been with the series this long (especially when no one else is being replaced.) Kiefer is no where near a suitable replacement for Hayter.

That would be awesome. So few games actually do that, wen it should be f*cking mandatory. The original voice work is almost always light years more better.

I like how people complain about Kiefers awsome voice but nobody complains about Kojimas terrible writing.
I guess gamers are very shallow when it comes down to it.

Yeah that is how i feel too.

I don't understand why they don't do it, there is certainly enough space on blue ray's and it doesn't seem like it would cost anything.
