To put this into perspective, Metro Exodus’ script is larger than both Metro 2033’s and Metro: Last Light’s scripts combined, including all DLC.

Approaching a bandit camp at night might prove advantageous to a more stealthy player, but there may be more bandits around to have to deal with.

Choosing when and how to approach different situations will have measurable effects on the player’s experience while completing tasks.

Thats great. Its a huge ambitious project. when previous 2 metro games were linear and kinda short. this one will be lot longer, plus more open ended like Stalker with linear levels too.

if it done right. its going to be one of the greatest game of all time.

Will the game still have those stupid masks that you have to keep changing all the time, also does it have weapons where you have to pump too?

I liked the first Metro game even if it was weird, but after what I mentioned above I haven't played any others in the series.

its like Stalker and Crysis 1 instead of boring GTA and far cry type.

beside not every level is open. theres also linear levels too.

open world can be good if done right but sadly most dev just copy paste ubisoft formula like in witcher 3 and MGS5.

@ghosts4ever: stalker is way more open world than Crysis. Stalker had a bunch of running about. Crysis didn't, except forward.

Crysis is not open world in any way. It just has more useless areas to discover.

I think this game will be amazing. Metro is one of my favorite franchises and I have a lot of faith in the developers.

Zelda is not especially "kiddy", no. And Nintendo targets everyone. Not just kids. Do you honestly think a child would play and complete BotW?

when i was child i beat and complete numerous games, and those old games on snes/genesis were lot harder.

plus i also did beat PC games too back then when i was kid. so maybe they can.

do you think mario, zelda, donkykong is mature series for men? yes everyone can play but nintendo target audience has always been kids.

1. Back then you didn't really have the choice to play something easier.

2. YES! It's also for kids or anyone who'd like to play them. But yes, those series are for "mature men", among others. As for DK, Mario and Zelda, those games can't be 100% completed by kids, unless the kid is a fucking gaming wizard.

Did you read and understand the quote I gave you from C.S. Lewis about maturity? You always get awfully quiet when I bring it up.

LOL, I don't know man. I want him to see other things than the two things he likes, and I want to help him become a more mature person. But it feels pretty futile.

That guy only plays games that have nudity, gore, and extreme violence since that's all that matters to him as he claims mature games are only for manly men. Unfortunately, no point in arguing, he will just miss out on all the awesomeness BotW brings to the table.

I'd love to see him complete trials of the sword on master mode and then still say its for 5 year olds.

ubisoft open world games are garbage, just pepper the map with 3 types of errand missions over and over with nothing unique about them. Go to point A, grab something, go to point B.. go do the same thing at 20 other spots in the same region.

the metro games had their moments but were nowhere near as good as stalker soc and cop. never heard of segmentnext.com and no other sites seem to have reported the implied quotes but, giving the article the benefit of the doubt, if what they're reporting is true then it's a step in the right direction for the series. but let's hope that step is nowhere near ubisoft territory

I just finished Last Light and it was surprisingly good. I gave up on the series after trying to start 2033 at least 3 separate occasions.... but if you are like me and hated 2033, I assure you all the pacing issues were addressed in last light. Good game and the outside areas were fantastic.

Now I can say I am officially looking forward to Exodus.

Ehhh I don't know... I loved the linearity of the old Metros. It was tight and focused. I'm getting a little sick of open world games.

But I'm still definitely excited for it. Just hope it isn't full of the typical open-world filler.

The secret will be for someone to make an open world that is also tight and focused regardless of where you go or how you approach it. STALKER had some scripted events for different areas. Just that each event needs to be as good as Metro's and have a lot more of them depending on where you go or even some random scripted events where the Ai can still react to any non scripted entity coming into the scene.

@hrt_rulz01: agreed, a linear and more focused experience is what I am looking for here. This is a very atmospheric series to me, and I loved the previous title, and it's cool if it is a more fleshed out story, but I don't really want open world Metro.

I liked the atmosphere and dark (really dark) corridors of the Metro games. I hope Metro Exodus retains them. One thing I can't stand though is on subsequent playthroughs, I know where the bad guys will be coming from, how many there are, and when they'll pop out. It makes the Metro games a one-time play and then throw away experience. Surely, a developer can make a linear game, but still make encounters unpredictable.

With say, STALKER: Call of Pripyat, the encounters are highly unpredictable except for the storyline missions where the player targets a specific mutant.

One time, my nephew was playing Metro: Last Light and I was on speaker phone guiding him along. I knew the exact number of doggies, when they'll appear, and when he can relax. ;)
