Now, not that I am insulting the Wii or discounting the Prime series, as I would consider Metroid Prime one of the best, if not the best, games of the last generation. No, I'm not worried. Previews have praised the control scheme. If you played Elebits, you'd know a FPS could be done well on the Wii. Retro only has two games under their belt, but they're two of the best games I've ever played, so I'm not worried that they'll screw up something so vital as a control scheme.
And I think the gameplay videos of Prime 3 look excellent especially for a Wii game. But I forsee a problem. How will Nintendo map the controls? Every first person game on the Wii has been awful control wise. Red Steel, Far Cry, Call of Duty... none of them controled very well at all, I personally hated them all.
And I don't really see exactly how the Wii will manage first person games with a free range of motion in the future. Do you guys really think that Nintendo is going to have a good control scheme for this game? I know that everything about the game will be good, the only thing that worries me about it is the control scheme, which is why I am not as excited about it and I don't understand why other people don't share the concern.
I guess Nintendo has a great track record, even with first person games, look at how well Hunters on the DS turned out.
I hope that Prime 3 is good, but is anybody else as worried as I am?

Well, on all of the hands on previews I've read I've heard nothing but praise for the controls, and I guess Retro has been doing a really good job making them responsive and accurate. That got rid of my fears.mis3ryTrue, but I didn't hear anybody bashing Red Steel's controls either... I hope you're right though. luigigreen: True enough. I have had some disapointments from Nintendo... but never from a Metroid game.

I guess Ubi never decided to read a preview :P Haha.. but yea, nobody really trashed RS's controls until it was released.. I guess everyone hoped they improved before launch :S Oh well.

See, I had no problems with the control, or bugs...the game just got real tedious. No AI, same enemies, and generic boring guns. COD3 had a great control scheme. It worked fine, and MP3 will be fine too. (Driving in COD3 sucked though)
http://media.wii.ign.com/media/748/748547/vid_1672590.htmlExpert controls all the way baby! Seriously the controls look REALLY REALLY impressive and the graphics are goin to be great too.
Metroid will do just fine.

"We're happy to report that it simulates the accuracy of PC first-person shooters almost perfectly, and we found ourselves soaring through levels, zipping around corners, pulling quick turns and zapping down enemies with pinpoint precision within seconds."

Retro isn't lazy. They have been said to have nearly perfected the controls.I expect Metroid Prime 3 to be a great game.
I second that /end thread. 8) Metroid RULES!"We're happy to report that it simulates the accuracy of PC first-person shooters almost perfectly, and we found ourselves soaring through levels, zipping around corners, pulling quick turns and zapping down enemies with pinpoint precision within seconds."

The Wii has potential for great FPS controls, and since this isn't a third party title it will be fine. FPSs weren't supposed to work on the DS until Hunters came out either.UssjTrunksAhh Hunters, that game brought some good times.............. online. :P
[QUOTE="Newsboy"]I hope Nintendo makes several different controller options just to make your point mutt, including ones for the classic controller.Tristam22I usually agree with you, but I actually hope the game doesn't support the classic controller. Yeah, I like it, but playing OoT on the classic was a Living NIGHTMERE!

If Prime 3 doesn't pull it off, I doubt it ever really will. Nintendo knows this and won't rush the game.Â

Simply put, Retro has pretty much nailed it - and it makes the wait to 2007 for the game that much more difficult. We're not kidding when we write that Prime 3 feels like a brand new game with this control"
