Metroid Prime Trilogy vs Other M

So, I finally played Trilogy (a bit late :P) and was really pleased with it. Really really great games. But what bothers me right now - I watched Other M trailers and IMO it looks kinda lame compared to Metroid Prime games. I know - different genres and stuff, but still Other M looks like not a very good successor. Who else thinks so?

While I have no doubt in my mind that Other M will be inferior to Metroid Prime, I still think it could very well be a worthy entry to the Metroid line. The gameplay looks like a lot of fun and lets be frank here, as uneasy as people are about Team Ninja being a part of this, those dudes know good gameplay.

It's fine to be a bit skeptical, but personally, I think people really need to give this game a chance. I know I'm excited for it. :)

But it is different back then from now. From all the successful FPS' it could have been easy to see why Nintendo would try and get some of the $$$ for themselves but with Metroid. Retro was a nightmare. Unproven Dev from Texas, who couldn't finish sports titles, and every time you heard about them it was about lay offs, and other problems, not Metroid.

yeah, I'm a little dissapointed that Prime isn't continued. It was the only console FPS I ever liked, it felt like what FPSes would be if the genre was born on consoles instead of PC. Other M doesn't interest me much, but I can understand the reasoning. The series needs a break. MP3 already got flack for being a bit too rehashy. I'm sure that sooner or later Prime will return in all it's glory.

People thought Too Human was going to fail..........and they were right. Being part of the same franchise as a game that surprised everyone with its quality doesn't mean Other M will do the same thing.

I don't personally think Other M will be a cIassic like Prime, but it is unfair that it has to be in Prime's shadow all the time. What we've seen of the game has been more presentation than gameplay, so it's already at a disadvantage because it hasn't exhibited any of Prime's perfect atmosphere (in fact, I think it looks very dry visually), but there's no reason the gameplay can't be great.

People had doubts about the Prime series too, but then played it and it was great. I am sure MOM will be the same, it looks good to me, if you were a fan of the 2D games you'll probably be happy.SaltyMeatballs

Other M looks good to me so far, not too sure about the 3D aiming I would have been happy with it to stay like the 2D sections but that doesn't mean it won't work (I just hope its not as piss poor as the bow controls in Ninja Gaiden).

I said People thought Metroid Prime would fail, but it turns out that it was actually good and brought a New look into the series. I'm saying Give Other M a shot.

I think it will be good but against Prime probably not as good.

Yeah it won't be because it's not sprite base, ok, so do you think it will be bad because of the Controls or something? I mean I don't see the big deal, for the most part Metroid Fusion, Super Metroid, Metroid, and Metroid 2 only need 2 buttons and a Directional pad.

for one, i thought metroid prime 3 was crap for two, samus is supposed to be ALONE, and shooting at enemies AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE MP3, they bring in other people and destroy the solitary feel. Other M, now you can kick them in the face yay lolJandurin

Well, most of the new gameplay footage does show Samus alone and isolated, specifically the E3 trailer.

Yeah, its more action heavy, but they're not stupid. They're not going to depart the series from what it's about. Prime 3 was more action heavy, but it didn't feel like Samus wasn't isolated off, most of that was retained. If anything Prime 3 is like Fusion, it holds your hand too much but it's still in itself, a Metroid game and has aspects of what Metroid is all about.

What is up with all of this Prime praise and Other M hate. I'm really excited for Other M and he changes it's bringing.

Gameplay looks more fast-paced and challenging. Maybe Samus won't become an immortal harbringer of death this time around.

However, I'm concerned for the controls.
