Reposted from Primary Games Discussion, for some reason the mods thought I was talking negatively about a system, which I have no idea how this post is bashing any system at all, it's just preferences that are personal.

Anyways.

Just kind of looking for other gamers opinions here. We have had a PS3 for a few years and I have no issues with it. I recently left PC gaming because of relocating to the country but that's usually where I played FPS games on.

My only issue with the PS3 is the controller, while it's great for a ton of games, it sucks for FPS IMO, as my thumbs always hit each other and I hate using the shoulder buttons for aiming and shooting.

In your opinions, am I better off spending a mere $100 on the MLG PS3 controller so I can have the Xbox feel, or dropping the money on an Xbox itself and rebuying a few games I like to play? Is the MLG controller really worth the investment for those of us who hate the PS3 controller for FPS games?

This has to be a troll post.

"oh hai guise, should I just buy a 3rd party controller or an adapter to use the 360 pad on my PS3 or should I just buy a 360 and rebuy all the games guise?"

maybe you should drop the fanboy attitude dude you are quickly becoming very annoying, why no contribute too this thread instead of bashing all time its pathetic.

On topic: i'd say go for controller if its just the feel for the controller you want, or try something else and go for xbox.. but if you got most multiplats and what not, you should go for controller, it sounds like its just the feel of xbox controller you want, or go for triggers as rivers say ?

try the aftermarket triggers and see if that helps.

it won't fix the crappy angle that the ds3 puts your wrists in but it does solve the slippery feel of the shoulder buttons.

Thank you Eddie...I can now use your example to explain why I didn't post this in System Wars to begin with, I was looking for honest opinions and/or experiences with this controller. I have larger hands and used the Xbox controller on my PC so it's comfortable for me, the DS is too small for me for long term use, oh yeah, did you notice I said it's great for some games? I'm not being biased, just looking for something that suits me better.

I don't Troll, hence the reason I'm a low level...I have no need to post everyday here just to create havoc for my own entertainment.

Thank you everyone else for the honest input. I'm cautious about 3rd party controllers but I heard the MLG is pretty solid. And mostly what I'm looking for is the offset tumbsticks and ability to use the triggers and not the shoulders as my primary buttons, it seems that controller can offer that for me on the PS3.

Well, I've been PC gaming for 20 years or more, but really when everyone your playing has a controller and so do you it's not like it's a handicap. There are actually alot of controller players that would wipe some kb/m players. I've played against both and seen plenty of great and horrible on both sides.

Nobody on this forum can give you advice on the MGL PS3 controller, as they are either hermits who wouldn't go near a console or 13 year old kids whose parents would never spend $100 on a special controller for them to play games on. My best guidance is to go to a store that stocks MGL pads and hold one in your hands to see if it's any good. Any store worth its salt will let you try one before you buy it if its that much money.

Adapt to the DS3. Hold it in your fingertips, not in your palms. Use the pad of your thumbs on the sticks, not the joint where your thumbs connect you your hand.

Once you stop holding it like an ape who seems angry at a puzzle it needs to solve before it gets its treat, you'll find the DS3 is, hands down, the best FPS controller on the market.

FPS with controllers is so much better, expecially the 360's triggers that mimmick a rifles trigger, the resistance one get's with the analog sticks and the overall comfort of the 360 controllers which melts into ones hands, all done from a nice distance on a soft couch!

Really more so then the controls, it comes down to positioning and map knowledge. Anyone that has played in ladders or leagues knows this. It's like saying a mouse with 5000 dpi is better then one with only 800 dpi. It doesn't matter if 5000 dpi is too fast for the player, his accuracy will be all over the place and if he doesn't know the map he's teams favorite enemy.

Although I prefer kb/m on PC, I find consoles actually bring a more realistic approach because the response is slower. To be succesfull you have to be more patient, tactical, and move a bit slower. The idiots running around like crazy are destined for negative k/d ratios.

In 8 years in the Army as a Scout I never once ran around like a nutbag with rabies. I'd probably be dead by now if I had.

forcing yourself to adjust to a controller that doesn't properly feel comfortable with the way it SHOULD be held. Adapting as you say is rediculous. It is why i never could get use to it. the controller should fit in your hand, by that i mean your palms, the sticks are too close and the handles are TOO small, not to mention the angle the handles are designed, which makes gripping the r1 r2 buttons horrible. the PS3 controller works for racers and overall other types of adventure games, any shooter is designed perfectly with the 360 controller. Yes, to each their own, but it's common sense.

The way it should be held is the way I said to hold it. Forcing yourself to hold it in a manner that you aren't supposed to and complaining that it is uncomfortable is, frankly, stupid.
