well i think every game ever made in this world all have a love/hate thing going. either you hate it or not.
i have played mgs 4 for an hour so far and i great. i beat 1 and 2 but by the time mgs 3 i moved on to other games i was interested in like prince of persia, shadow of the collossis ect. i wish i got to play it but o well.
I think MGS is one of those games that is very polarized.
Yet for me... i'm actually in the middle. I don't love every game in the series or the series in general like other MGS fans... yet I don't despise the game at all or the series. I acknowledge them for what they are, but really... I am critical with MGS like any other game too.

If all games were either love it or hate it, then we would have no reason for the following scores: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. I thought Luigi's Mansion, for example, was a 5 out of 10. It was fun, but I could do without it. I don't love it or hate it.
I got Metal Gear Solid 1-3 for thirty dollars. I played the first one for four hours and I thought it was okay. The cut-scenes kind of bored me to tears. I think I might pick up and start playing the first one again, though. I want to at least finish the first one. If it's good enough, I'll try 2 and 3.DeathScape666
The first one has some boring cut scenes but later in the game the excitement level goes through the roof. Of course by today's standards it's kinda hard to play PS1 stuff, especially after all of the added features in the following MGS games. However, definitely try to make it all the way through because MGS1 is what made me truly addicted to video games.
Love it! One of my favourite game series ever

I have to agree, although I had some story problems that I didnt like in MGS4.
If I never played previous Metal Gear games, I would probably dislike MGS4. I can't imagine people who never played a Metal Gear game, getting MGS4, thinking they could just pick it up and play. The Metal Gear series is a type of game that you can easily just watch someone else play, so you can really get into that movie watching mood.
[QUOTE="aka_aj03"]Loved It... and I was just reading your sig.. are they still around in SW?Mr_lulzI haven't seen either of them
They're men of honor. Noble of heart and word. You simply have got to love those traits in accordance to the rules set out in this place. Ahh the internetz... serious business it is.
As for the question, I'm leaning more into the love side. But, like Hate, it is a strong word so if you mean it in the way of: OMGzors MGS for EVA!!!!11!!! I'd have to say... no.
It may sound weird but my opinion is definitely in middle ground concerning the series. But yes I enjoy them, and I'm definitely far from hating them.
Best story in any videogame period. The story is so in depth to the point were it seems believeable. Its crazy to see people actualy plotting a story that weaves into everthing that has ever happened and leaves you wanting more. MGS series is truly one of a kind.mexicangordo
Baldur's Gate says no. As does Planescape Torment. And Deus Ex. The storyline however, is far from believable. Cyborg Ninjas? Liquids hand taking over Ocelot? It's just silly! I think the most believable story in a game is original Splinter Cell, it was engrossing and I could actually imagine it happening, unlike MGS.

Oh yea, I totally agree with you there. I haven't played Deus Ex however. I'm betting alot of people hyping up mgs haven't played Baldur's Gate or Planescape.
I don't, I find the MGS series to be games that everybody should like and if they don't they've got bad taste plain and simple.Dahaka-UK
I seriously hope you're being sarcastic.

yea i was going to say the same thing, i dont think there are many games that i either love or hate...it only seems like that cause this is SW and fanboys love/hate games depending on what system they own...but most games i either enjoy or feel mixed about...as for the topic...ive only played about an hour or so, but so far i love the cut-scenes and the gameplay itself is meh to me...but ive always felt that way about the MGS series

You cant be seroous....if you take every aspect of any story then no story would seem believeable. The story line can do fine with out cyborg ninjas, if you played MGS3 you would see that. And again, MGS story isnt driven by "mythology" type events. It uses real events, real people. But i suppose we all have our opinons.Love the stories and characters, hated the controls and camera until MGS 4.
And MGS 3 still has the best intro sequence ever. It was so good Crysis ripped it off.

What about MDK?

I thought Homeworlds introduction was better, and that's an RTS from way back in 1999. Outside of that, I thought the MGS 2 intro with the bridge was better.
