.... wait.... I thought that came out in 2008. :P

Well grats to the fans that love their contrived, ridiculous, pseudo serious series.

I wonder if Kojima will have to pawn this production off to another production team, because he and his crew are too inept, again.

Kinda glad to hear it's still in the works. Would be intrigued if it isn't a crappy action movie

considering its Avi Arad and he had a hand in a few of the better super hero film's and has Kojima's blessing im sure he will be asking them for help and guidance.Cant see Kojima taking a back seat in this like what happened with Street Fighter,Resident Evil,Far Cry etc.

I've been lacking the discipline to buckle down and finally finish 4. But if said movie is anywhere near as enthralling as 3 was, it will be sweet. I really got into that one, 4........has me kind of detached.

IMO his firms always have pacing issues. I really enjoyed Dark Knight for Ledgers performanc, but I thought the film was actually rather poor. Considering espionage, suspense, and terror are key to the series, I think Fincher would be a nice choice. I recently watched Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and was not only surprised how good it was, but also how much better Finchers was over the original. Fincher would also retain the gritty feal of the games, for sure. What I would be really bad is if the series gets GI Joe-ified. Edit: iPad spell fixer blows.

Maybe Batman just isn't your thing ? he has done other movies.. and you can tell he wanted to do soo much more with the movie but had to cut a ton of it off. He's a really great director.. hands down and the movies he directs and does the writting for are great. But i highly doubt he'll direct the movie... besides... is it a movie with people... or a CGI ?

Can't use him no matter how good he could do it why? because columbia wouldn't allow it. They need to tag big names to these things so people go see them

I'm not a fan of Metal Gear Solid, but I would watch this is made right, so please Hollywood don't ruin this. I know that MGS has a great story to be made into movies.

Tarrantino used actors that were over the hill in a few cases with faultering careers like Travolta, and Samue L Jackson (at the time of Pulp fiction they were in a rut proverbially speaking) and pretty much relaunched their careers.

Tobey maguire wasnt really a big actor until Spider man and even look at LOTR a lot of the cast were mid tier actors until then.

Names dont mean anything, all that matters is the acting.

It's not the same. Those are actors anyway. And those movies had the directors names attached to them to sell them too. Also Daivd Hayter isn't a regular on screen actor, not saying he couldn't do it but when they make these movies they don't make them 100% for the fans. They make them to get as much money as they possibly can and tagging big names to things makes people who have no interest in the franchise itsel maybe go "Oh they're in it? might go see it then".

At the same time Hayter looks like snake and sounds like snake :P I honestly do think he could pull it off, he loves the series and has admitted it.He's had small roles in films he's involved in but he'd make a ood match for the job.

At the same time MGS is a pretty big franchise, no doubt sony will market it to hell and back but despite snake being a key character, other people can sell the film a-la Dafoe as green goblin in Spiderman 1.

That's not necessarily true. Kojima seems very protective of this property. I don't think he'd let it turn to $hit--numerous offers have already been made. I get what you're saying but I think you're underestimating how much these companies need asses in seats at any cost. If the game people don't want to do it a certain way Columbia could just pull out and leave it dead in the water. Especially in this day and age they are not likely to take big risks.

Then again I hope I'm wrong and I would also love to see hayter do it because no one else is snake in my eyes. But I will say look at the uncharted movie, everyone knows Nathan Fillion would have been perfect or some other people rather than Mark Wahlberg but they chose him because he will bring an audience somewhat. They don't care what you or I think about who should play who

at the same time i honestly think Avi Arad's never really made a bad call for leads in films anyway.

He's pretty passionate bout the projects he's involved in, in the past aswell as being a core part for Marvel nowadays.I think if theres anyone to direct a video game film this is the guy his films gross well and tend to review favourably aswell as trying out actors that are a bit off the fringe :P

I disagree. A well made film with more spent on sets/locations/capable crew is more important than a few big names. We are talking about Metal Gear, a series. Bank on the first film with a few names, but you then lose returning audiences for the films to follow. As for Hayter, it depends on the type of shape he's in these days, but no doubt Kurt Russel could play older snake(slightly kidding).......I still think new talent is the way to go. I mentioned Fincher earlier. The girl in that was phenomenal.(Dragon Tattoo.)
