MGS4 has the best all around graphics this gen.

As an answer to the Gears of War 2 topic.

MGS4 shines in every department, especially character models, which are still in a league of there own. Overall, MGS4 runs incredibly well at all times. The cutscenes-to-gameplay transitions are also impressive.

Gears 2 looks too "muddy" to me, it is just something about the Unreal Engine, though.

EDIT: BUT MGS4 is quite a nice looking game too :P

The characters models are more impressive than the environments to me.

hmm MGS4 is great ,better than Gears 2.Even Gears 1 on a decent PC looks better than Gears 2.But the real kings are Killzone 2,Crysis and Uncharted.

Banjo: N&B, RE5, Uncharted, and Gears of War 2 all look better.

Obligatory Crysis>all statement.

And I disagree, MGS4's environments are really bland looking. Best "all around" graphics this gen are Crysis, or if console only, Killzone 2.

MGS is an amazing game and the character models are great, but I dont think it has the overall best graphics

Just played Uncharted and I have to say that it looks better than anything. I mean anything this gen.

Just because it's GREENISH and BRIGHTISH and not GREY-BROWNISH.

MGS4 has hands down the worst in game visuals i have seen, in fact it is so empty in some levels, that there is nothing really there to judge the game by anyway

Here it is, at its full sub-HD glory, one of the very worst looking titles this generation for me easilly

It is nice looking but I don't agree it's the best. Killzone 2, Uncharted and RE5 all look better. Maybe I need to play it again though, I've only played it once.Floppy_Jim

KZ2 probably looks better, but it was released more like a year later. RE5 no, in my opinion.

I found MGS4's artstyle incredibly lackluster. The environments just seemed very dull and boring. Best graphics? I love me some hot graphics, but this game didn't do much to impress me.

As much as I love MGS4 Op, but its definitely not the graphics king this gen. IMO its Uncharted, then it'll be Uncharted (100% of the PS3!)

Probably not anymore but the tech behind MGS4 is still the best in my opinion. I'm not talking about textures or anything like that, but the fact that cinemas play out using the in-game engine and can transition directly into gameplay without any pause is really impressive. And the ways you can manipulate the camera in cutscenes was also a stroke of genius. Hope to see more games use this engine.

It is the only areas that are not 10 feet wide, that is tiny like coriddors

Well, essentially they are bigger coriddors, but it has a feeling of open, even though mountains are all around in close distance

Anyway, that is the open areas of MGS4, its biggest part, what pics would i post, the paths in cities ?

Well, panning and zooming a bit in a cut-scene is the single most worthless thing i have come across in gaming, and really easy to put too, it is not like you can rotate the camera or anything, i would add the same pan and zoom in a 2D video or image the same way, it is rather the mostg minor thing i can think of ever

Giving you total control over the camera would make a mess of things during the cinemas but they could do it. In the Mission Briefings before each act you can take full control over the camera with the MK.II while a cutscene plays out. And don't try and downplay that feature as being easy to do or not being that impressive.

Those snapshots of crysis may look incredible, but it's that TOD mod, you can't really play the game while having that enabled from what I've been reading, so I can care less. Aside from that, I also agree with the TC. MGS 4 looks the best all around. KZ doesn't have a whole lot of variety in visuals even though the technical aspect is superb. Now, I just wonder how MGS would look without that tint it always seems to have whether it's grey or green. Character models still looks like rubber. RE5 has better character models.JunkTrap

Those two screenshots of MGS4 are horrible.It looks 10 times better on my tv.Anyway MGS4 graphics are brilliant but nowhere near as good as Crysis.

it was proven MGSIV runs at sub hd resolution so i think its safe to say you are wrong.
