I'll echo this. It was a little over-hyped, as is the entire MGS IP. Good game, but there are better.

I am playing it, and I say its a good game, but not a great one.

No it's not. A game I finish once and can't force myself to play again is not the best game this gen. Games that are better this gen are many. IMO a game that consumes time in which I am having fun, is a better game. COD4 is better to me, GTAIV is better to me, Halo 3 is better to me, and I also enjoyed Mass Effect more. I feel like the canon for MGS4 is flawed and heavily made up as they went. It was overhyped, there really is no question.MadExponent

The Gameplay was alright, the Graphics were meh, and the Story was meeeehhhh.

This was an okay game, but I've played better. One game with better Gameplay, Graphics AND Story: Mass Effect.

Hmm...yeah. I own every adaptation of Metal Gear. I own MGS, MGSVR, MGS2, MGS2S(Xbox), MGS2S(PS2), MGS3SE, and MGS3S. I also own MG and MG2. So, yeah.

I've seen better already. Listen, I liked the Graphics, but they were hardly the best this generation, or even amazing at all. Sure, the character models were good, but a lot of the textures were flat and blurry.

I've played previous MGS games, and I love MGS4, but I found it pretty clear that the things they added to the canon in MGS4 had serious issues, and don't mesh well with the earlier games.

Ok first off i expect people that havent played the game to not know what im talking about. but if you played this game it is VERY obvious no game out even touches it graphically, gameplay, or damn sure not story wise. this is one of the best games ever PERIOD. notice i said one of and not the best. however anybody can agree or disagree but thats why i posted it in here....PK_3100

and i have played msg4 at a friends house (nothing would ever make me buy a ps3) and i felt it was dissapointing

If it doesn't matter to you, why do you think that for someone to not be crazy about MGS4, they have to have not played earlier MGS games? I'm not going to begrudge you the right to enjoy your game, but blanket statements about quality don't benefit anyone.

I found that explanations of the origins of a number of major figures in the MGS universe, like Vamp's powers, the explanation for Ocelot's arm, and the background of the Patriots didn't mesh well with what we knew from MGS2 and 3. I also despise what they did with Raiden's character. I felt that the reason Hideo didn't tie up many of the loose ends from MGS2 is that they weren't meant to be tied up, and that shows in their explanations in MGS4.

Nice Logical fallacy. Just because I thought that some of the textures detracted from a current-gen, 35 Gigabyte Game doesn't mean that I'm somehow a 360 fanboy. Your opinion that the graphics were not "meh", simply differs from my opinion that they were. (Meh = Average).
