it simply would not be sensible for konami to release a huge budget game exclusively on the system with the smallest install base. i'm not saying it'll be on 360 day one, but it will be on it

Lol. Where have you been? Every multiplat game sold more on the 360 than on the PS3, plus most of the 360 versions scored better than the PS3. Anyway, this is a lose lose situation for Sony. I mean Metal Gear was never been a system seller and the rate of PS3 owners buying games are redonkalous. I don't know why they aren't buying Sony exclusive games like hot cakes. Anyway, Konami would make more money on the 360, bigger installed base already. Dead Rising and Lost Planet already sold millions, time to take that MGS4 over and get your money back and then some.

You got me. And even if it did, if it stop selling the very next day, that would generally be bad, while if you sell 1 million a week for 2 weeks, you've sold more... Sounds a lot like one of the Sony execs mouthing off about stuff he hasn't a clue about again.

There is a general pattern to how media sells over time. I don't know what it is but then I'm not paid too while the guy who was quoted is. He's saying that, based on how game sales typicall diminish over time they would need opening day totals over a million units in order to be profitable over the expected sales life of the product.
