well my opinion if you want a good solid rpg experience stick with mass effect i loved that game.
if you want a more cinematic experience with some great set peice battles etc go for mgs4 but beware the cutscenes lol only if you are a fan of mgs series you will enjoy the game no doubt!

While the cutscenes are kinda long at times, I know a lot of people who weren't big fans of the past Metal Gear games but still enjoyed MGS4 a lot.

really? i have been holding out on buying mgs4 because im afraid of the cutscenes lol but i know mgs series has always been about the great cinematic cutscenes and experience i know i would probably love the game but im just waiting till its bit cheaper :)
I agree, imo Mass Effect is a better game overall, mostly due to the amount of freedom and the amazing story. If I were you I would do my best to own both games as they are both amazing in their own right. Two totally different games. Id keep Mass Effect and try to pick up MGS4 also.

i mean those games are like apples and oranges. One is an action/rpg, and one is a stealth/action game. Story wise, MGS4 is superior, but the game has one of the best stories in video game history IMO. Character wise I like them about even, there are some great characters to be found in Mass Effect. MGS4 has great characters too, more of them being likeable if you've played previous MG games. It really all comes down to what kind of game you want. I could easily recommend both of these games to someonejohnnyv2003
Which one had better gameplay IYO?

again, they're completely different gameplay styles
If you like RPGs, then Mass Effect brought some innovative and fun ideas to the genre. It's very action based, so it keeps things fresh.
If you enjoyed Metal Gear gameplay before, then MGS4 does it again only better. If you enjoy playing stealth type games, with an option of going nuts with your guns then you'll like MGS4.
I'd go with MGS4 anytime.AgentHMgs4 rehased game play! mass effect rocks something new and fresh
mass effect got a 9.0 and pc has higher standards.

...In relation to graphics and sound on a technical level at least.
Mass Effect left a much bigger impression on me than MGS4.
Character creation, different character classes, a great dialogue system, light/dark alignments, a myriad of sidequests and subplots add up to lots of replay value.
On an aesthetic level, the story is less cheesy and cutscenes are kept to an acceptible level.
Personally WRPG's are my fav genre, whereas I've never really enjoyed stealth games (exception is thief). Haven't played MGS4, but played 2 and loathed it and from what people have said I doubt I'd like 4. Mass Effect for me.blue_hazy_basic
wow really? what did you hate exactly?
Long time no see btw.

I'm on most days but only for a few minutes, introduced a shed load more meetings at work for me to run.Really didn't enjoy the gameplay (I also HATED Splinter Cell on the xbox - so linear) and the cut scenes drove me mad.
Which do you think is the better game? Please no fanboy stuff! I just bought Mass Effect and i'm enjoying it, but I have the oppritunity to trade it for MGS4 and simply I can't decide what to do....skingus
Well, asking a question like this is going to only result in everyone giving you their opinions, and nothing more. With that said, trading in Mass Effect for MGS4 is akin to blasphemy to me. :D
mass effect, its something orginal. It has great dialoge, great gameplay, good graphics, great music, and a lot of replay value. EmperorZeruelMass Effect is lots of things but I don't think original is one of them.
It's basically KOTOR 3 without the SW license imo.
Mass Effect probably has more replay value, but MGS4 has been getting many good reviews for a reason.
All this comes down to though, is personal taste. I couldn't care less about MGS4, but there are many people out there that probably feel the same about Mass Effect.
Look at the style of game in both, watch some gameplay footage, and decide on your own from there.
mass effect. that game show how real storytelling should be done. mgs4 is awful full of pointless plot twists, silly dialogue and painfully long cutscenes. mass effect kept me immersed in the story till the end.mephisto_11

Sounds exhausting and I hate meetings.
Haha I understand how frustrating for some people MGS series is.
Are you going to get Infinite Undiscovery? it looks amazing, much like a WRPG.

Unfortunately my gaming budget has been eaten by Madden (first one since 04), Rock Band 2 and Spore in the next few weeks. I might get it ongamefly, but there are so many games coming in the near future.[QUOTE="mephisto_11"]mass effect. that game show how real storytelling should be done. mgs4 is awful full of pointless plot twists, silly dialogue and painfully long cutscenes. mass effect kept me immersed in the story till the end.0rin
i played it from beginning to end. i enjoyed mgs1 + 2 but 4 was bad. sorry i dont think kojima is a "genius". he would probably get laughed out of hollywood. his kind of storytelling would bore the crap out of anyone who is not a serious fan of the series. people need to quit acting like this game is godly.

I played both personally I like MGS4 because it is one of those epic times in gaming everything comes together and unfolds and the final boss battle is probably the best.
Like other say get both or at least finish ME before trading in and getting MGS. Reason being you want to finish ME before its sequels come out and MGS4 can wait, but cannot be passed up.
